Reports on Pitbull's Relocator?????

kinggeek,

What overall spring length are you running on your Elkas now?

Mine is 8 3/4" overall spring lenght.

Also what are you running the rebound at? I left mine at 25 where John from Elka set them.

JT

9.25 inches. Measured Friday by John at Elka tent. 25 I think whatever it was at when John put them on in 2012.

Pit bull says they can take a credit card over the phone, or you could send in a check. As far as the discreet labeling for Mr. Denman, they have assured me that they have "special" packaging materials just for you!

I was originally going to get the shock relocator brackets installed but decided against them because with my 2012 stock shocks and the Ron Bar I'm happy with the way my RT rydes and handles. Saved the ~$190.00!

I echo the comment about appointments at Pitbull's seemingly not meaning much. Showed up for my Wednesday 2PM appointment at about 1:40 and asked for my key back at about 3:05 when my Spyder was still sitting where I parked it untouched. Just glad what I was going to have done was not critical. I understand Len and the Pit Crew with BRP tech help were slammed but after talking with folks who had been waiting since mid morning for their work to be completed I decided I didn't want to wait any longer than I had already waited. Saved ~$500.00, based on the estimate.

Mine came with a spring length of 8.75 inches; I took it out three turns, and that changed it to 9.0 inches...

(I hope that helps!)

Elka and Ron's bar

I've had Elka's on my 2011 RT since last Feb. Ride was really improved and I decided to do the sway bar also couple months ago. Improved beyond belief. I'd like to get the re-locator kit, but I'm gonna wait and probably do the adjustable bars. Besides my 2 major back and one pretty big shoulder operations, I've got a lot of arthritis and I think the adjustable bars will help a lot. Going to Maggie Valley and want to ride the new bars and see if they will do what I need. My Spyder is in the shop for two days for whatever is required at 28,000 miles. Between the old and new mx schedules and odd things like sprocket bearings, I should be good to go for a while. I'm riding a loaner Honda 1300 and I'll tell ya, it's killing me. Handlebars are designed for an NBA player of at least 7 feet. My back and arms felt like I'd been mugged with a baseball bat after 45 miles and today rode 30 miles and feel the same way. Spyder is superb most of the time, we'll see ref the adjustable bars. Tuck

I also have had both Elka's and upgraded Swaybars for more than a year on my RT but had the Relocator brackets installed at SpyderFest.

Results? My ride was so good with Ron's bar and the Elkas its hard to see any improvement....

I had an 11am app on Wed. To have Elkas, Swaybar, and Relocators. Made 1 month in advance. Arrived at 10, it was a zoo. I saw right away that it was not going to happen. I couldn't even get to the service desk. I canceled my app and went down to Spyderpops and got the sway bar with an hour. My ride is much better, but after kinggeeks post, I want the Relocator now. Are they hard to install? Are their any videos out there?

They are very simple to install, I have a topic on here about installing them.

I would like to purchase the relocators. Does Pitbull ship north of the border? I am also assuming that the relocators fit 2013 RT's?

The 2013s don't need them. The purpose of the relocators is to position the shocks on the earlier Spyders more vertically, so they are similar to the 2013s.

The relocators move the shock location of the 2008 - 2012 to the 2013 location. Your GTG.

Huge difference

The sway bar helped notably but not enough to cope with the wind buffeting on my 2012 RTS, so added both the Elka's and the relocators at PitBulls. Huge improvement! Rides like it oughta

I agree the BajaRon anti-sway bar made the biggest overall difference in handling but I still feel like the ride is even flatter and more controlled in the curves with adding Pitbulls shock relocators. It just feels like the tires are GLUED to the pavement now.

I went for a rather spirited ride last night on some of my favorite local roads and some new ones and I have a recommendation for those putting all three/four handling mods on their RT as mentioned in my previous post. You should also get a nice set of Seal Floorboards because the added foot traction is a MUST HAVE when testing the limits of this AWESOME combination of mods IMHO! NO :joke:! I have the Seal Pups and Lamonster NBV pegs and the Seals really got a workout last night.

Unless you are or are planning to be super aggressive in the twisties, I'd save my money. Your 2012 RT shocks are pretty good (maybe set them on 4 or 5 for stiffer handling) and with your new Ron Bar you should be set up really well for good handling. I was going to have the relocator brackets installed at Pitbull's as well but changed my mind after talking with someone way smarter than me on what each component of our suspension system does and it's effect on the "ryde". Decided I was happy with the way my RT handled and opted to save the ~$190.

Best of luck with what you decide to do.

The Least Expensive way to do suspension Mods is to do One at a time and then ride it a good amount of time before the next!nojoke
Its Impossible to add 2 or 3 different Mods at once and make a analitical decision about which one did what?:hun:

To me the Sway Bar is the Least Expense for the Most Improvement and I do have Elka,s on the GS BUT when I was swapping things around I had the RT shocks on the GS (#5) and found them "Almost as effective"!
