royal purple oil is definite plus. acceleration is better, engine does run cooler(not according to temp gauge but the amount of heat i get on my leg) and seems like i do get little more out of spyder. it's cheaper than what i pay for what they have at the dealer so its a win win. shifting is crisper and quicker and i do shift at high rpm and shifts into 1st and reverse with bit less thump.
those whose going to try NAPA autoparts will be most convenient for most people i think. one that i went to had them instock but if they don't they will order them for you.

mechanic did ask me why didn't i get 5w40 i told them they did not make it and he said he called them and they DO make it:dontknow:
i did not see them on their website. also he was saying spyder should run on full synthetic.

the tire seemed it was slipping at first but once it warmed up they gripped real well. i don't know if these tires are softer than stock or engine just producing a bit more but my burnouts are so much more eventful now. yes it was spinning hard with stock tire but did not get alot of smoke but now..... may be little bit of both.

any case :2thumbs: on both products thank you those who were brave enough to try so rest of us can benefit:clap:
oh royal purple oil was 13.49 a quart and kumho tire 70 bucks each.

Thank you for your Royal Purple review. RP does make a 5W40, but it is an automotive formula. Royal Purple tech told me it would not hurt the Spyder transmission, but I told him I would rather the "Motorcycle" oil, just in case I have an "issue" with any warranty with BRP. Glad to know you are happy with your decision. If you had any issue with oil dripping from air box, watch it for a while. I have not had "ANY" purple oil dripping from the air box in 1500 miles since oil change. BRP oil would drip after every time I went anywhere.

i will have to wipe off air box tomorrow and see

i guess thats why i didn't see 5w40 on their website, its automotive.
i was looking at motorcycle oil section.

I just reached under and wiped off underside. Went 300 miles today, no drip. If you get a drip or 2, it should be BRP oil color, not purple. Guess that's just residue from the air box. At least that's what mine did. Went 300 miles today without any drip.

Are you going to the Meet and Eat Saturday?

AKA, regarding the tire review, I noticed that "slip" feeling you are mentioning at first as well. When I got my spyder back from my dealer he had only put 28psi in the rear as if it was a factory tire. When I put my RideOn in I pumped it up to 32psi and I not longer feel that slip. The Kumho tire takes up 51 psi so you may have to adjust that a bit to get the right feel. I may go a little more before I leave for Niagara Falls this morning and just try it out.

i will try that thanks :2thumbs:
did your mechanic gave you a dirty look also?:D more like a look of disapproval? for bringing a cheap replacement for stock.

Airbox - I don't need no stinking airbox!

I don't miss having my airbox at all!

oh royal purple oil was 13.49 a quart

I found royal purple at Advanced Auto for under $10.00 a quart on their website.

That's a great price! We paid $13.89 at the parts shop who ordered it for me. With all the difference we noticed, that's very inexpensive. The RP cannot be ordered from RP direct.

I will be getting ken's race fuel system soon also
I take it that's what you have?:D

Yup- but I will warn you - it's LOUD. I'm still finishing a new insulated airbox to go around Ken's race filter setup that I hope will quiet things down. I ran cold air intake ducting to the filter, so it will get plenty of cool fresh air while inside the 'box' I'm building.

I would recommend getting a filter service kit like this one:

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/9/197/18148/ITEM/Uni-Air-Filter-Filter-Service-Kit.aspx

Makes it easier to clear the filter when needed - and then you just spray new oil onto the filter. It's a super sticky oil in spray form. It's the oil that does the actual air filtering - the filter just holds the oil in place.

Also - when you clean the filter out - run the water from the INSIDE of the filter to the outside.

It's a pretty simple setup and install. I didn't notice the noise too much until I put a bigger shield on.

And, I just took mine (race air flow) off due to the noise. It is very loud... allows all of the intake noise at highway speeds ... drowns out the exhaust. It was good on performance, though... in conjunction with the TBR Juice Box.

For some reason I keep calling his race airflow system a fuel system...
Anywho, when I took the baffles off of airbox I thought it was very loud but I got used to it pretty quick. I am wondering how much louder the air flow system would be. Guess another thing to check out at June event
:D

Ata, may be I can take yours off of your hands?:2thumbs:

While it's been awhile since I had the airbox on with the tubes removed - I would say the race airflow setup is TWICE as loud. When the throttle bodies are open - you can really hear the engine. I have no idea what my Hindle sounds like anymore - :D.

It's bad enough that I'm doing something about it, but I refuse to go back to that nasty airbox. I've got all the parts now to build my new airbox - just need a nasty weather day so I'll stay inside and do it!

Okay, I was reading this post and have a question now. So the Evoluzione Race Airflow System makes the Spyder louder? How is that?

i will try that thanks :2thumbs:

No dirty looks at all. He was quite cooperative and asked us to let him know how it works out. He said as long as all the computers and sensors aren't affected by the different tire, he doesn't see an issue.
