• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacing Rear Brake Pads

How hard is it to replace the rear brake pads on the RT. I am at 13000 miles and need new pads. Has anybody done this job themselfs yet? Also is that about average for the brake pads to last?

I think it's a little early to determine what an "average" life is, but on the 2008 SE5 GS, I had mine changed at about 30,000 miles and still had a little wear left. I am now just under 13,000 on the 2010 RT and have PLENTY pad left. But, all that is relative to one's driving habits. Hard stops, etc., will wear pads out quickly. Most of my stops are light pumps to get the Spyder forward motion slowed down, and apply the brakes just before I have to come to a complete stop. Do I do this ALL the time??? No, but most of the time. I call it anticipative driving.

Call it getting to know the machine but if you can develop a nice downshift by matching the revs you'll find that the engine has enough torque to accomplish a considerable portion of the slowdown....the brakes come after you get through shiftin'.

2011 RS SM.

It's a piece of cake! Even I managed to do it and had no parts left over.

It is pretty easy I did mine with instructions from my husband. I changed mine around 12,000 miles also because at my 12,000 mile service the dealer told me I needed new pads. Well come to find out I had plenty of pad left. But the good thing is that the squeal is gone with the 3rd generation pads and that was worth the money.
