• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

replacing grips

Anyone have any tips or advice on changing the grips on a RSS? I want to put kuryaken iso grips on but seems like there was something quirky about the throttle sleeve that I read somewhere but can't find any reference to in the threads.

On my RS, I just cut off the old grips and slid on the kuryakyns. No glue or tape. Haven't moved in 3 years.

I cut my old grips off. You have to be careful if you try to slide a screwdriver under the grip on the right hand side to break it loose; you could mess up the sleeve. I believe firefly had messed his up on his old GS.

I didn't use any tape or glue either and also thought my grips didn't move. Once I installed the grip buddies, which have a seam, I found my grips were moving. So, I removed the right hand one and used glue.

I have the ISO grips on my GS/RS and love them. No problem with the install either. Just be careful to not mess up the throttle sleeve when taking your old ones off.

The glue that comes with them is pretty potent. Make sure you get them on right where you want them as it sets quick. You could probably use hair spray too. (I used that on my first set of replacement grips for the Spyder before I purchased the black ISO's; worked great, with no slipping).

Use some WD40 spray it where you can around the grips at both ends then use an blow gun with a compresser and fit the tip between the grip and the bars they will shoot right off with little pulling effort. No need to cut up perfectly good grips. I had to use glue there was to much slip with out it I'm not sure how others are staying in place with out it, but if you do use glue make sure you cover the lower body panels a drip of that stuff will surly ruin the paint also I suggest putting a little lock tight on the ISO grip end cap screws I had a couple back out on me not to long ago and there an old size to find at the stores.

I also use my air compressor blow tip to remove the grips.
For install try Purell. The antibacterial gel you use on your hands. Slippery for a very short time before it all evaporates and makes the inside of the grip really sticky once it dries.
