• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacement Antenna

Can someone please advise if a new antenna comes with the lock washer and rubber boot? Or is each a separate order item?
Dealer got me a new antenna but I did not get the boot.
It was under warranty for me, because it was lost. Need the rubber boot.
Thanks.

The parts fiche illustration shows the boot on the antenna (P/N 710001402), and there is no separate part number for it, so it should be included. They will have to contact BRP to see what gives. The special, curved lockwasher (P/N 234161601) is shown separately. The dealer should have caught that when he looked it up to order.

Replace it with ESI's shorty immediately... It was my FIRST RT mod....

Does it come with a boot to cover the hole? The photo of it on the ESI site shows a boot, but not sure if it is supplied or you have to use your existing one.
Mine was lost with the antenna.

I just had mine replaced (fell off) and boot had to ordered separately. I don't have the part number as I threw away the package it came in.

I think I found it. P/N 708300156 - RH Antena Base. Except RT (STD) Listed under Luggages - Rear. No wonder your dealer didn't spot it. 708300156 RH Antena Base. Except RT (STD) 708300156 RH Antena Base. Except RT (STD)

Chris, does that mean you use a shorty and get good reception, or you're thinking about getting one and have questions? I wonder if the CB transmit/receive is as good as the standard?

There was a thread about this earlier and I think the consensus from some was it worked fine while others said no:dontknow:

I lost my antenna under warranty before they had the lock nuts. I got the replacement and put it aside as I already had
ordered the shortee. I got two Shortee antenna because I liked the look. it was also a little easier to put the covers
on, but after I had the CB installed I decided to go back to the stock set up.

I will bring my 2 shortee antenna to Spyderfest for anyone that wants to buy them at a good price.;)

Hey Rudy! I probably need to talk to you about getting a shorty.

Hi Chris
Connie and I did about a 200 mi. ride yesterday, we went to Roanoke and went about 60 mi. on the BRP north and had a very good ride. We have been talking about the good time we had down there, and how you all made us feel at home. We are looking forward to Cuba as they are posting a lot of the rides. We are looking forward to when you and Cindy do your ride. We are talking about side trips, but don't how much time you are allowing. You all talk about it and we will make plans in Cuba and later.
Rudy

I replaced both my antennas on RT with shortys just didn't like looks of OEM longs, I buy all my replacement antennas from Antennax online they sell them for all applications and prices are good...

Freebob....:doorag:

Maybe I lost signal because I'm stuck up here in the Catskill mountains and every ride involves losing and finding radio stations; depending on which side of which mountian you happen to be.

Is it anything special or can I just use loctite and or a lock washer? Will loctite effect the reception?

BRP specifies one drop of loctite and a star washer.

Loctite is an insulator so more than just a drop on the very end of the threads is probably too much and might interfere.
:agree: BRP specifies one drop of Loctite on the end thread only, in the service bulletin. Your 2011 should have already had the stainless lockwasher if it was assembled correctly at the dealership.

Has anyone replaced their antenna with one that folds over when putting on the cover? like the ones on the goldwings?
