• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replaced my Y gaskets today... where my old ones bad????

Y Pipe Gasket Replacements

Thanks for quick reply. I am replacing my exhaust with a new one and was worndering if all the exhaust gaskets were the same. Does anyone know if there is a parts manual for the Spyders. I have a repair manual, it showed a diagram of the exhaust system, but no part numbers for the parts. The gaskets looked the same in the diagram. Thanks for letting me know that the gaskets are different sizes.

You only need the large 90 gasket for use with the stock pipe. After market pipes just use black high temp RTV.

Uneducated me with another question... :opps:

"Y gaskets..." Where do these suckers belong on the bike and how would I know when the BRP ones have turned to mush?

Sorry...

There where the pipes drop down before the muffler, There held together with a clamp and a spring [similar to the spring used on 2 stroke pipes']
When they start going bad you'll get excess heat from the right side [more than usual] But the first sign is noise coming from the right side pipe
For some reason the right side gasket gos first, Mine [08] started at 6 k totaly gone at 8k [right side] left 75% gone.

Thanks! :D Now that I know what to look for and where to look I've got an excuse to get greasy!
Haven't heard of this happening on an RT. Save the greasy fingernails for later...unless you feel compelled to remove the body panels to look for your tools and your jumper. :roflblack:
