• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replace with GS/RS ShopTalk and ST ShopTalk

I have to go with Lamont and Scotty. In an ideal world three separate model-specific categories plus a general category would be great. I'd only have to look at two of them. But way too many posts are in the "wrong" place so I currently end up wading thru all the categories. Sometimes I even have to look at the writer's profile to see what kind of bike he has so I can figure out which he's talking about. I think this forum has been around long enough to show that it isn't going to change -- posts will continue to be put wherever, regardless of what guidelines are put out. Look at all the questions that get posted in the DIY section in spite of the big bold heading saying "do not post questions here"! Just my two cents.

Guys, take a look at the new structure, apparently Lamont has already made up his mind.

We can speculate all we want on how it should or should not be, but it's all academic to us. Lamont is the one who has to work out the details and live with the results. I think he's made an excellent choice and now it's up to us to fully support him and place our posts where they should be, and very gently and politely nudge others to do the same.

I think in time everything will sort itself out with great results and Spyderlovers will continue to be the very best in its class.

Thank you Lamont for providing a steady hand at the controls and wise leadership!

Sorry, I'm with Lamont on this one. Too many categories means even more posts in the wrong spot. It would be helpful if everyone posted what he was riding or what the post was about, but that won't ever happen, either. I say make it as easy as possible for the administartor (within reason) and the rest of us will just have to try to sort our way through it. It is sometimes hard to remember where you are anyway, if you use "New Posts" to read the threads. That mixes them all up anyway.

Scotty is on the money on this one. I try to always list what spyder I'm talking about, including year, whether I ride one up, and any other information which is helpful in determining the "specific" issue and it's solution.

Chris
