• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing the rear fender

I want to take off the rear fender because i really love the look of the exposed rear tire. In looking at it, if i remove the fender, all of the other belt guards and stuff would have to come off as well. If this is the case, will i be left with bolt holes and stuff that will make it look like something is missing?
Does anyone have detailed pix of this mod?
 
The lower belt guard stays but the top one goes.

Has anyone had any problems with the rear tire hitting the plate while riding two-up with this set-up?? I'm looking for alternatives. I am tired of losing my license plate.... twice in less than 2 years.... and that rear fender is on it's way out or to be modified.

Yep, I had to bend mine up a little to make room for 2-up riding. You can relocate it all the way back and get more clearance too.
 
I met a girl who had a gorgeous gloss black Spyder. I keep telling her to go on here and haven't seen her yet. Her fender is off her back tire. I asked her if anything in the passenger area gets wet if it rains. She said everything gets soaked except for where she is sitting, in the driver's seat. So if there were a passenger on the back or if you put anything back there, plan on it getting very wet on wet roads.

Just like when I see my friends ride their Harley. He's got a bobtail fender. When it rains, it causes a fountain effect and it soaks his wife who is riding as passenger. I wanted to remove all fenders but I won't for this reason.

Been there, done that, got soaked coming home from TN without the rear fender. We are adding a trunk which should help a lot deflecting water off the passenger and I am considering putting the rear fender back on, just shortening it up and coming up with an alternative for the plate considering I've lost two already that had been mounted to that unreliable rear fender.
 
When you get your Kewlmetal rack, you can do this. Very easy and inexpensive.

I just bent a piece of flat stock, welded it (or it could be bolted) to a motorcycle plate mount (that I had from that rear fender my wife bought off you), attached it with the Kewlmetal rack's rear cover mounting screws and bought a lighted plate frame from NMN.

I think your setup is fine for one. But on a 2-up, it is likely too low and rear tire will rub the plate when modulating. IMO I've heard people have their tire up far enough to rub Evo's plate kit. Musta been a real heavy guy on the back. I also think the belt guard needs to stay to keep stuff off. I like these setup the best so far ...

No, it won't rub. It's far enough back that even when the shock bottoms out, it clears the rear tire. In my pics, you'll see that my license plate is a good 4 inches farther back than the Spyder brake lights. I also have mounted the plate just a touch higher that what anyone mounting under the tailpan can. The Evoluzione license plate bracket that many are using have the plate mounted right at or just ahead of the Spyder brake lights. With those under tailpan mountings even moderate shock travel can allow the plate to touch the tire. In the pics you referenced, those people have had to mount the plate almost flat to prevent tire rubs.

I just finished a 40 mile ride up the highway, soaked roads and the passenger area of my seat stayed mainly dry. The water from the tire will only come over the rear of the seat if you are riding real slow, but at speed it leaves a nice roostertail effect. I know cause the guy behind me kept turning his wipers on...

4" further back will definitely do the trick. I was thinking about relatively the same spot where the brake light ends

After a 90 miles ride, my rear fender decided to ditch me and run off with my license plate. Has anyone heard of this happening to someone else? I wanna build a case to get paid back by Bombardier. It looks like the brackets just fatigued, failed and let it go, nobody hit me, didn't run on anything, it just fell off. The brackets look like the fender was torn off them.

Theres been a few fender brackets that have cracked, Do a search.

I see no need to remove the rear fender...bike looks fine with it and it does keep the bike cleaner...
 
I was thinking about purchasing that back fender; but, I couldn't get past the looks of that thing that covers the swing arm.

I think all their parts are standalone products. You don't have to get the swingarm cover to go with that fender. You don't have to get the fender if all you wanted was the swingarm cover. That is one of the great things about their products.
