• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing the grip on throttle side?

Questions

New member
Trying to install new grips and I'm having a hard time getting off the throttle side grip. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Just can not get it off, I can see the groves that are holding the grip just not sure how to get it off.

Thanks

Heard if you take a compressor and blow air between the grip and the bar it will expand the grip and come off pretty easy. I have not tried it though

Run a narrow screwdriver carefully in the open end to stretch the grip and loosen the glue, That's how i took mine off. And they were still good to put back on.

Most of the time I don't plan on reusing them ..so I just cut them off..

:agree:

Mine has so much glue on it from BRP that I don't see how it could have come off without cutting it.

Be very careful if you twist the throttle when trying to remove or install new grips! You can end up breaking the plastic 'nub' that holds the whole unit in the correct place on the bar.... ask me how I know!

A blow gun with a small pipe on the end works for me. It takes literally seconds to get it off. To reinstall hit it with a bit of brake clean and slip it on.
The brake clean will soften the glue and then dry to and rebond.

Just let it dry for a while before riding.

Oh, dont forget to remove the end cap first by loosening the screw and pulling out. Dont take the screw all the way out!
