• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing pull out tray from the storage compartment that flips up.

If you pull out the insert tray (made of plastic and styrophoam) does it get too hot to put anything in there that is electronic ? Does the pull out tray actually prevent some heat from getting in there ?

I don't know how much heat it prevents, but the glove compartment does get hot without it. I have never had the liner in mine, my 2010 was produced before that upgrade, and I removed the one in my 2011 right away. I prefer the extra room. I would not store anything in there that heat might damage, however. I use mine for my sunglasses, earplugs, notepad, and gas slips.

I kept the BRP tire gauge in my glove box. Now it won't work. Anything that has a digital/LCD display screen will be damaged by the heat if you leave it in there.

Also remember that even with the liner, a lot of heat builds in this compartment from the sun, especially on a black Spyder.

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts. I keep my remote garage door opener in that compartment, with the insert. I guess the styrofoam helps to reduce the heat in that compartment. I haven't had any trouble with the opener yet. However, I might take it out of there so as not to have possible problems in the future.

p.s. I think I will try to put a little thermometer in there to see what the actual temperature is with and without the insert, just for the fun of it.

It's all about having fun :ohyea:

I don't think it'll hurt the remote. I keep mine in there to. It's just anything with LCD/digital readouts that will be damaged.

I have been lucky again I guess... thank goodness. I have left my lcd digital tire display (it is a little guage that looks like the old tire guages with the small lcd in the end) in the little box with the insert since I have owned the spyder and it still works fine. I haven't been to Aiizona yet, but around the 4th of July going through Kansas it was 104 plus for the day and over 95 in Kentucky for the time I was there and still works. I have been hesitant to leave my phone in there, but I think I will try it with an old phone I have laying around just to see if it will still turn on....
