• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing Plastic Rivets

Coming up on my first oil change and wondering about removing plastic rivets. Do they just pull straight out and are they reusable.

Thanks
Roger

Pull (or carefully pry) the center portion out until you feel resistance...about 3/8"-1/2". Then you can pull or pry out the bottom portion. You may find it is easier if you wiggle the panel a bit. If it won't come, you can completely remove the center portion, then replace it after the bottom is removed. To reuse, insert, then push the center home to lock the rivet.

Also notice that the "retainer" (middle part) is indexed kind of like a "Z" so it goes back together with the "insert" (outer part) just one-way. And NEVER force a plastic rivet or you could cause unsalvageable damage to it. The use of a thin flathead screwdriver seems to work best for removal of the retainer.

Good Luck!
