• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

removing gauge cluster

First of all, :2thumbs: to all you :spyder:owners and modifiers who take the time to give step by step instructions. I refered to Lamonster's before I did my first oil change.

Now, I am trying to adjust the mirrors. I have had no luck getting a hold of Kewlmetal for thier extensions, so I decided to try the 42 cent solution using star washers. In the process, I managed to cross thread the bolt.

I want to take the assembly right off the Spyder, pull the bushing out, and retap the mount. I removed the two 6mm bolts holding it on and gently pulled, hoping to find a connector, but there is no slack. Either way I am going to need that slack if I am able to order the extentions. Before I break something else, I think I should go in there and look.

So what is the process to remove that gauge cluster?

You don't have to take off the top of the dash or the lawyer propoganda. start with a small flat blade screw driver in the two slots mentioned and take from there.:2thumbs:

Removing the gauge cluster is easy...you have to use 'snap' it out by pushing a small screwdriver (or something like it) into the two top holes...take off the windshield before attempting...

The cluster snaps in and out of place in an orderly fashion and you need to release the top portion for it to come out without breaking.

Once out, you can take the entire front plastic piece off, if you so wish. Mine had snail trails on it and the only way to clean it was from the inside...I used a microfiber cloth as the plastic can be scratched with any sort of abrasive. I was able to do this and put it back together without much of a fuss...all the plastic pieces just snap together...you will not lose any of the 'airtight' seal...

When putting the cluster back in, remember that it does not snap back in straight...can't remember without looking right now but either the top or bottom goes in first...then the other side...

You'll need to take out the cluster for the NMN fender tips...once you do, it's a piece of cake if you have to do it again...

Remove Console Assembly

This is pretty easy deal here. Just insert a small flat screwdriver in the top of the dash and while you apply a little pressure just pull out on the top corner. Do this on both sides and the whole thing just pops out. :doorag:

Perfect pic...just remember when you reinsert that it doesn't click straight back in...you have to wedge it in a little...I'm always afraid of little plastic tabs...if they break...well, we all know what happens then....

Thanks, I got it out, disconnected the signal, pulled that off and retapped the mount (8mmx1.25). I have it all ready for the extention install as soon as I get the parts from Kewlmetal. Hilda told me not until after New Years. i also ordered thier Highway brackets since I have short legs. I like the way they sit just behind the flares.
