• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Removing Dead Battery

I know that this is on here somewhere, but I can't find it. We have a 2010 SM5 RT, and need to replace the battery. How do we get the old battery out?

After removing all the panels, mirror, and fasteners, you will find that the battery is a VERY tight fit in it's compartment, but it will come out with a little bit of coaxing. I would advise that you NOT put your fingers under the battery
case in the event you slip while raising it up and the battery falls back into the compartment, IT WILL HURT!

:agree: same way your remove a live one..:roflblack: Had to say it. Take your time keep parts and corresponding screws and clips with panels and it will go well..

16 oz. of Semtex. :joke:

It's not an easy job. A few choice words, especially if you pinch your hand/finger might help.

Left hand passenger grip

Remove left hand mirror
Remove top panel
Remove middle panel
Unplug VSS switch
Remove black plastic left hand passengers grip trim piece
Remove ground screw on battery
Remove Positive screw

Okay, we're all good until we get to the "left hand passenger grip"....how does that darned thing come off? We can't get to that back screw.

:gaah: You're actually halfway done... It only SEEMS as if the fun hasn't even really started yet!
:congrats: on getting this far; so far!

What kind of dead-headed engineer makes you dismantle half of the spyder just to replace the battery that may last 4 years, at the most? Oh, wait, the new bikes have the battery in the front. Never mind.... Now it sounds like a great marketing ploy. Trade it in on a new one and new change another dead battery again.
