• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Remove battery or plug in

I have a battery tender pigtail installed on my bike but it will be stored in my unheated Shelter Logic shed for the winter. Should I remove the battery and take it inside or leave it on the bike and plug into the battery tender for the winter.

Just leave on the bike.As long as the tender is pluged in it will be just fine. I have done exactly the same thing for one winter and no problems.

Tony, a member from Iowa (GuitarPlayer), has had mice take up residence in his seat over the winter. They ruined his Ultimate seat as well as his wiring harness costing him thousands of dollars. His Spyder was stored in an unheated building. I don't remember if it was a shed or a barn.

There are a few threads on here on what people use to combat critters infesting their Spyders during the cold winters. You might want to do a little research and act accordingly. Otherwise, you'll be in for a big surprise come spring. Good luck.

Battery

When we lived in the north, I took mine out, brought them into a warm basement, and put them on the trickle charger. don't set them on concrete, a wood shelf or a milk crate is fine. Joe

Take it out....

Not that you can't keep it plugged in where it's at....but you will have to run a power source out there. If an extension cord you will have to check that to make sure it is plugged and working. If the tender and battery produce warmth when charging you will attract critters that can cause you some damage :dontknow: just some thoughts I know I had to get special extension cord that would not freeze for some of my jobs up in CT....:banghead:

When I lived up north, the temperature would go as low as 40 below F. and I had my GoldWing parked in an unheated shed. I would leave the battery in the wing but have the battery tender attached for the winter. Never had any problems. The wing would be good to go when the weather warmed up. You'll be fine leaving it plugged in......as for the critters????:banghead::banghead::banghead:
