• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Look at this woman - Let us never forget.

The world hasn't just become wicked...it's always been wicked.

The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving.

Irena Sendler
Died 12 May 2008 (aged 98)
Warsaw, Poland

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw ghetto, as a plumbing/sewer specialist.

She had an 'ulterior motive'.

She KNEW what the Nazis' plans were for the Jews (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger children).

She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the infants' noises.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents who may have survived it and to re-unite the families.

Most had been gassed. Those children she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize .

She was not selected.

Of course she didn't win the Nobel Prize in 2009. That was won by someone else that people said was far more deserving ............. :banghead:

grumpybob,

Thanks for the post. I'm downloading a movie about her from the internet now.

As for the nobel peace prize, I couldn't tell you who won or why from one year to the next. Just as long as you think of her is all that counts.

Grumpybob were you or a parent or a relative one of those "babies"??? Just wondering.:dontknow:

No. Actually I'm part German. Goes to show you that we can look at things and see them for what they were, Great in her case, Brutally terrible what the Germans were doing!!

I deleted a couple of winners from the article to keep politics out of it.

Seneca Falls/Waterloo NY is full of Womens' Rights history. The first Memorial Day celebration was here also. These types of things interest me.
