• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cool! :doorag: Thanks for sharing that. Just goes to show ya - you never know what someone has buried in their past. Or their back yard!

Thanks for the video. Loved that stuff. Brings back some great memories. I learned some of their tunes when I first started playing guitar.

I mimicked his style when I learned to play drums. I didn't realize he wasn't the same drummer for Wipe Out OR that I served in the Air Force along side him. Thanks for the memory.

I remember them doing the Hawaii Five O theme music......................but that's about it. I've regrettably always been more of a :banghead:............

Spyder_cowgirl told me about this thread. The Ventures is all I listen to. So many these days butcher what the human instrument can actually do. Can't stand the yelling. The Ventures for the most part keep their trap shut and just let the true music come through. They've gone through a lot of players in their long run and have had several groups try to copy them but I think they are tops. I've got one called Swamp Rock that very few have even heard. Guess it didn't go over big but there are some great tunes on that 8 track now CD if you can find it.

I have it on LP. This was the only group that could come close to the Ventures in that genre.

I guess I'm much much younger than most of you. Never heard of the Ventures....but...they sound a bit like the Beach Boys...who were way before my time...but I love their sound

Ventures sound really cool also, thanks for the video...guess I'm a new fan :opps:

.

Ray, they were a good group. Started out as a backup group. I think they did backup for Cliff Richard at one time. They and the Tornados were out at the same time.

Jerbear, you're welcome. Friend of mine is an old 130 guy. He said he would have never believed it had he not seen the video. He said the then Colonel Babbitt was the DCM and he had to brief him frequently.

Thanks for the post. I met the Ventures back in the early 60's because lead guitarist, Nokie Edwards and (sometimes the whole band) would stop by to visit his brother that lived next door to me in a small apt building. I remember one time Nokie showed up in a brand new Pontiac, so a friend and I walked around the car for a look when we noticed the name "Grand Prix", not realizing "Prix" was a French word, we thought wow , what a strange name for a car.
