• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Reliability on the 2016 Spyders

2016 RTS here, only one problem, the motor that engages and disengages the parking brake broke. The dealer came to where I was at and picked it up and repaired in about 3 days. I was told they have only seen this problem twice since they've had Spyders. I am confident in it, and a proud owner. 4,200 miles.

Will a 2014 do?

I own a 2014 RT-S SE6, it's basically the same as a '16. Some '14's had the DESS issues, mine did as well. The module was replaced but occasionally get an orange screen. It's a problem I think BRP fixed in later year models. I had the drive belt replaced at 108,000 miles. A fuel pump replaced at 117,000.
I have a few squeaks and rattles but I wouldn't be afraid to take this bike on a coast to coast ride. Up to 137,831 miles. It runs as well as the day I rode it home from the dealer in Jackson Ohio.

Since I am considering buying a 2016 or 2017 Spyder, I would like to hear from folks that have those year / model spyders about reliability experiences.
Thanks in advance.

Look at this avatar.

Well, it did happen, my avatar picture was taken last November 18th 2016.

Until we see a picture it didn't happen. LOL

I've got 96,000 miles on my 2014 RTS SM-6 and it has had no issues. Normal maintenance and it is ready for another 33,000 mile year.

My 2014 RTS

My 2014 RTS has 20,000 + miles as of this past weekend...I've had two problems, DESS four times but so far this year its fine...And one air compressor failure...larryd

It did happen, last year!

Am I invisable on this forum? Doesn't my avatar show up? My '14 RT-S turned 100,000 miles last November 18th 2016. As soon as I can I'll take a current picture and post it here.

With all those 0s on there, no one notices the 1 in front......at least I didn't until you said you had over 100K on it. That is fantastic to see how well your 2014 has done, as my wife just traded up from her 2011 RT to a 2014 RT Ltd (with 18K on it) and she is excited as hell! She loves to ride and she will be putting on some miles and enjoying it. I will have to struggle just to keep up with her..........

128,000 miles confirmed

Earlier this year I started chatting to Buckeye Chuck. I too was skeptical about his claim of a 2014 RT and high miles. We decided he would ride north and I would ride south. We met up in June, I think, and at that time his odometer read 128,000 miles.

A few weeks later I rode down to his place and he showed me how he records on calendars his mileage every day. I also saw a motorcycle magazine about him on other bikes and his pursuit of miles. In short he rides about 300 miles everyday, rain or shine, not if there is ice.

He is very handicapped and ryding is his life.
