• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Regular Campaign News Section?

It occurs to me that we would benefit greatly from a section in this forum dedicated to publishing BRP Campaigns when they become available. If there already is one and I've missed seeing it, DOH! :opps:

If not how about it? :D

These aren't readily available, except through the dealers, who may not be willing to share them. Keep in mind that Warranty Campaigns and Technical Service Bulletins often apply only if you are have the specific problems or failures they address. Reading about the problems, just like on the forums, often creates doubts in owners' minds, and imagined problems. It's sort of Spyder hypochondria. Releasing the bulletins could result in a flood of people demanding repairs that they don't actually need, putting a burden on BRP and the dealers. I would like to have a library of them available, too, but I don't think that it is likely that we will see them anytime soon.

You're absolutely right, Scotty. I was happily riding my RT right up until somebody in the past couple of days posted details of 2011-0008 which has something to do with a new configuration for the throttle body, without which there is a possibility of damage, requiring, so they say, a throttle body replacement.

So I contacted my dealer immediately and he read the BRP bulletin for himself right then but he hasn't yet got the software download. He'll be in touch when he's ready to go.

In the meantime I can't bring myself to ride the RT for fear that the damage warned about in the bulletin will occur. Ignorance was bliss. :dontknow:

I wouldn't stop riding because of the issuance of the warranty campaign, but many others would. Yes, in this case there is a risk, but most 2011 RTs have put on thousands of miles with no problems. If you get one of the four specified throttle body codes, or the throttle positioner does fail completely, your Spyder may be in the shop a few days, but the fix for that situation is specified in the bulletin, too. Your reaction is understandable...and common, hence my earlier statement. I fully agree that ignorance is bliss. :D
