• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Refused to go into gear.

I went shopping yesterday and the Spyder would not shift into reverse or forward when I came out of the store. I tried several time and no go. Shut the Spyder down and restarted and it worked fine then. But this is what I hate about computers! I am seriously making plans to convert my 1998 Honda Shadow 1100 into a trike. It has shaft drive and it should be easily doable. My only concern is how to incorporate a differential into the real axle. Maybe glean a rear axle off of some small car. If I can do this, I will sell the Spyder. I really love riding the Spyder but absolutely hate the computer. :gaah:

:D This might just have nothing to do with the computer that you hate so much...
Whenever a Spyder doesn't want to shift properly; it's a good idea to check that the oil level is correct.
I would also suggest that you check the shift linkage, to make sure that everything is tightened down.

One computer-related possibility IS the gear position sensor... When you did get it to shift; was that reading correctly? :dontknow:

If you work the problem; an answer will be found... We're all here to help!

Bummer..!!

But it did clear up and your ryding down the road. Seems you have the ability and the talent to build exactly what you want. Don't think you will get the same ryde as the one you have but you can only blame yourself then. You should ryde more for the enjoyment you say you get from your spyder and try not to ryde in search of the faults you feel (may have) the machine has. If you do convert your honda would love to see the outcome...:2thumbs:

The key to designing a trike conversion is the rear axle. We used to use a Morris Minor live axle to build Clubman formula cars. We welded on pickup points for trailing arms and panhard rods. This gave us many different final drive ratios and they would stand up to the power of a fully race prepared 1300 cc engines (about 145 hp). Don't know where I would find one of those in the states. Maybe an older Corolla or Datson rear wheel drive. Has to be fairly narrow. I could just run a solid axle but that would really drag one wheel on corners...not really an option. I'm going to hit the junk yards and see what I can find. Someone has to be making these axles?

The two guys that have Wing conversions here have Toyota rear ends. At least that is what they tell me.
