• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Reflective pinstripe

Did a search and sent a message to a fellow ryder, but did not get a reply.
I have a 2008 GS.
I am considering adding some refective pinstripe to the front fender groves to improve visibility to vehicles folowing. I'm thinking of a pinstripe that is black during normal light conditions but looks white when lit by headlights at night.
I have searched around and found some vendors but wanted some input/reviews. Something like this...

I use a wide strips of reflective black tape on my trailer, it works great, have not used any pin stripe though.

Go for it...

Being a stick down tape you can always remove it if not what you had in mind. They reflect well and would make you more visable. when you get her done send along a snapshot.....

I bought some strips on ebay and have used it in various areas. It does work really well.

Back several years ago I got the second ReflectGuard kit in the US for my 2010 RT. It is applied to the black areas of the rear of the bike. It's black in color but reflects white when headlights shine on it.
You can contact Morgan Holt at 470-395-6526 to purchase a kit. His website is: http://www.jmhmotorsport.com He is located in Alpharetta, GA. The kit should be under $50.
Check out the photos on this website on my post dated 08-27-2012 in the Mods section:

There is a website where I have purchased the DOT reflective tape: www.identi-tape.com I took some of the tape and a paper hole puncher and punched out some dots. I have applied them to my wheels on my 2015 RTS.
I have also put dots around the bike.
I also punched out some dots of the glow in the dark tape and applied some dots around the bike. I put two dots on either side of the trunk's key slot so I could find it in the dark. I'll update in the mods section photos of what I have done.

Drew..I may just have to do just that, search on ebay. I really would like some 1/8 or 3/16 width for my particular project

Cavman, the panel idea is great! I really like how you added the large sections to the rear of your ryde.
Being in have the GS model, there isn't much real estate back there, lol. I just need thinner width stuff than most vendors offer.

fyi (not meant as a hijack)

he's been in business since 2002 with 90% of his business through his ebay store. I've been more than extremely satisfied
I've literally emailed him a request for a certain size darth vader helmet graphic in whatever reflective color I wanted and he made them for me at $3 each.

feel free to tell him "Mike Oliver with the FJR" recommended him.

The reflective pinstripe sounds like a great idea. I like the idea of multi-purpose add-ons. If it looks pretty AND increases my visibility, it's got to be a good thing.

All the best,
John

I wonder if you could put in on the underside of the inner rear fender? :dontknow:

Here's the back of my 2015 RTS with the 3M ReflectGuard Kit and other strips of DOT reflective tape in various places.
That's EL wire on the antenna.

I did this to my 2011 Magnesium RT awhile back. I used 1/4" tape, black by day and reflective in the light. I did thoroughly clean the areas I was applying the tape.

Awesome! Thanks..this is exactly what I was looking for.
How is it holding up?

A few other members have helped point me in the right direction. Hopefully I can find a product and get motivated.
