ONE EXTREMLY DISSAPOINTED CUSTOMER

I'm sure BRP could crank up production, but I have a feeling that they did not anticipate the demand would be so big.

When did you place your order? I've read people saying they placed their order in January and still haven't gotten their toy yet.

I know it sucks and I hope I don't end up in the same position, the only thing you can do is wait.

red se5

i just bought it on sat the 18 of sept thought id be getting it no later than end of november mand im so pissed off right now :(

How did you find out that there are no more 08 can ams available? I ordered mine on 18 AUG and my dealer said he would give me an update if he hears anything. Now I’m wondering if he’s just being lazy or BRP isn’t passing on the information, maybe I’ll have to wait till next year too or maybe I made the deadline. I agree that they shouldn’t take your money without letting you know what the situation is at the time of deposit!

Alot of us have gone through this scenario. I plopped down 1K in the last day of February, to get assurance that I would get my SE5 by November, then they changed the date to end of September, and well, I got it on August 8th.

BRP is secretive about when, who, and how they distribute inventory, but I think I can say for sure that if you have a pre-order certificate with a promised delivery by date, you're going to get it, or you can on that date get your money back.

Do you have a pre-order certificate? What's the date? I think you'll get your roadster by then.

I wrote several e-mails to BRP and never got a reply... But I was nice to them, told them why I hope they won't dissapoint me, and they responded not by e-mail but by a early delivery date.

If you are in California, Floriday, or southern states, these deliveries will be coming all winter, because they sell more than in winter states. No need having inventory sitting in dealership floors with six feet of snow outside. (unless the new model SE5 or SM5 is a convertible snowmobile :D)

Other option is as Lamonster says.... go to these dealerships that have on on the floor and drive it home.

Well I called my dealer and he said he has not heard anything about the lack of 08 :spyder:. I’m not sure if my dealer got a pre-order certificate but I do have a guaranteed delivery date by 31 OCT or my money back. I saw the paperwork from BRP stating the delivery date when I purchased the :spyder:so I guess I’m good to go still. By the way SpyderDog65, my dealer also said it sounds like your dealer may be shady…just a heads up.

When I ordered my silver :spyder: a few weeks ago, my dealer gave me an FYI: no more 08s in red, production of 09 red to start in October for deliveries starting in November.

Also, BRP may be using a fiscal year (Oct. 1) instead of calendar year (Jan 1) when referring to next year?

yep thats what he told me as well. i dont think hes a shady dealer shaun sure seems to me to be on the up and up. all i got so far is a purchase agreement i havent did the fianancing yet waiting for them to get a arrivle date for it first. just makes me mad that brp takes my 1k now i wonder how many other peoples 1k is sitting in a account earning brp interest.:( i was told oct 31 latest nov 30 deliv date. now its i dont know cause brp isnt forthcoming. he told me i can get a se5 in yellow or silver and get it on the date he promised but i really wanted the red one so i dont know what i want to do if i had to make the choice id pick the silver one but i really wanted the red one, i can buy the silver one and pay some guy 1200 to 2500 bucks to paint it another color or wait possibly 3 maybe 4 or 5 months and get a 09 red se5.and pay and add money for it too. i dont know what i should do im really a very impatient person (sadly) wish i wasnt. but i just want what i want is that so bad....? just sitting here thinking :(

Hey Dog,
if you have a purchase agreement at the 08 price and they build you an 09, you might just save the extra $700 price increase on the 09s.
Just a thought. If true, it would make the waiting a little easier for you.

:chill:

Well, sorry about your bad luck in getting a Spyder - but most of us out here waited 6-10 months for delivery. For the first year they originally planned on selling 1,500. The final total of PE sales was around 2580, plus 800 spyderteam and dealer demos - plus 500 international demos.

As you can see, the demand was greater than they thought it would be.

There are a few dozen people that I know of that were able to get a Spyder right away this summer - they did their research and had to go at least a few hundred miles to get one right off the showroom floor. I'm sure there are hundreds that have been able to do something similar.

Everyone else had to put a deposit down (mine was $2,000) and wait.

I personally do not know of anyone that did not receive their Spyder on or before the guaranteed delivery date. I'm sure somewhere, someone had it happen - but I think that is the rare exception.

As far as BRP banking on the deposit money - have you seen the markets lately? I wouldn't say they're making a ton off of your 1,000 deposit. In fact, that money might be kept in some type of escrow that doesn't earn interest for them. I'm not familiar with how these things work.

I guess I would question why you didn't order your Spyder much sooner if you really wanted one so fast?

I don't think its fair to blame BRP just because you didn't plan accordingly. Read any of the online forums about the Spyder and you can quickly see that it is a waiting game to get one.

I've got a friend that just received his new Corvette - that he had to order a year ago. Waiting for performance items like the Spyder is very common.

Hope you can find one sooner. The red is so new that the demand was also far more than they expected.

:agree: Automakers do the same thing. At the truck plant I work at, we have been building 09 model trucks since August. That doesn't mean that nobody will be able to get a new truck until January 1 of 2009 once the 2008 model is sold out. The 09s probably hit the dealer showrooms within a month of model changeover and you can buy a 2009 model vehicle in the fall of 2008.

My wife ordered hers last April and she got it September 12 and I bought mine one week later off showroom. Red SE5 twins!!!!!

Red SM5

As far as I know the Red SM-5 that I ordered early summer with an August 31 date still has not arrived. Anyway, I have been having a blast on Iktome:spyder:Luta, the Red SE-5 that has been mine for three weeks. As with most I was told that there would be no red SE-5s untill November.

Now I find out that what appears to be the perfect windscreen for me will not be available from BRP until next spring. A lot of good that will do me in January when i leave at four fifteen AM for my twenty-five mile ride to dialysis three times a week. This may originat from a Florida addy but that will still be a cold ride.

Down deep I really wish Honda had been smart enough to have beat CanAm to the punch and gave us a ST-1300 powered Spyder with XM radio! Of course with the first production in CANDY APPLE RED and their true automatic!

Personally, I dream of a Triumph Rocket 3 powered Spyder, complete with shaft drive and air suspension on all wheels.

I'm not sure you could cram the straight three engine in there. But it sure would be a torque monster. :2thumbs:
