• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Red Headed Step Child versus F3

Many good thoughts on the subject going on here. SledMaster has it nailed.

Think about how many RT people came off a GoldWing.

One train of thought I differ with though...

The RS will not be going away any time soon. It's for the sports-minded rider. Feet underneath you, leaning forward, lots of zip, lots of fun.

There is a big difference between the riding position of the RS and the F3.

:agree:
That's why I think that they will "split" the RS line-up.
The Base RS, will be the entry-level bike, with a price that'll attract new buyers...
But the RS-S?? :D
The sky will be the LIMIT! :2thumbs:
Maybe we'll even get a "DocDoru Signature Edition Model"
The new RS riders will have an immediate identification with the RS-S... that'll also help to draw more newbies into the fold!

DocDuru would love it! :2thumbs:

Price of admission

Let's hope the RS is kept around as an entry level model.
They can make them I'm sure till the cows come home with no major new parts and keep that price under 15.
I'm sure with the popularity and power if the 1330 triple, there may be a F3-R or who knows what those in canada will call it. But if they dump that sub 15k price point base entry level welcome to the world of spydering I fear more customers looking elsewhere. The F3 and ST base in the 19+
Pretty much anything from harley south of the street glides and up are under 20, when you have a kid who could get a dream ducati sportbike (just picking a prestige brand) for less than a spyder it might make the choice hard. Or even with the slingshot coming in at 20 base...
I hope can-am doesn't price themselves out of new customers that can't swing 30%ish more than a base RS because that model doesn't exist anymore.
the rest of the motorcycle world is putting renewed efforts into attracting new blood and wallets to the market.
you have things like the star bolt or yamaha fz series or the honda 650 lineup or even the 2 new models harley has put out both sub 8k all looking for and knowing new riders often don't have the $$$$
I know the spyder is far more advanced and complicated than these relative bargain basement prices but 15k can buy you a lot of bike from a lot of different companies often including traction control and or abs nvm what 20k can get you.
Long rand short
I would be sad if can-am did away with its "entry" priced RS

this sounds like a

rs vs rt vs rss vs f3 vs the newest new

BMW ...airhead vs oilhead vs flying brick vs all the newest new

sounds familiar

Personally, I'm out of the market.. I have too many fields to tend and a full time job... and winter is just around the corner.. where I put on performance equipment in the hopes of riding someday.. maybe 2015..

2012 RS with less than 100 miles in the garage along with a 25 + year old K75 basket case, a Royal Enfield, a 1968 AMX..a Kikker 5150.. all on battery tenders and 9 cats

just ride when you get the chance..

I use to ride everyday till I got a 5 and 1/2 poodle I take to work everyday

take care
