• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Recovering stock seat on 2009 RS for more comfort and upgrades

I am looking for experiences, ideas, and pictures for my 2009 RS stock seat. I have already tried to get a Ultimate seat or Corbin seat but I cant because I have a after market passenger backrest and luggage rack. The Corbin and ultimate seats are wider than the brackets on the passenger backrest.

I am considering taking my seat to a upholstery shop to add something more comfortable, I have no idea what to add? What has everyone added? My thought is to stop in at all the local upholstery shops and see what they have to offer, what they can do for me and for how much?

While the seat is at the upholstery shop I would like them to add a gas door because seat is difficult to life up when I am traveling with items strapped down. I will purchase a driver Utopia backrest for them to install as well.

Has anyone had success with adding foam, gel, more comfort to the stock seat? I did purchase a gell pad on top but it only lasts for so long, I have been trying out a Airhawk-R that I am not thrilled with. I have put different level of air and its just not for me.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Hi tspappe,

Re: I am looking for experiences, ideas, and pictures for my 2009 RS stock seat.

I was fortunate to find a used Corbin seat at a good price. I then had MotorCycle Dave ( a sponsor here ) do a complete rework including his 'gell.'

I am very satisfied with how it turned out. My longest ride with it has been 400 miles in 8 hrs in one day.

I would suggest that you contact him and see what he might be able to do for you.

I think I have a stock seat in a box in my garage if you want to experiment with it. PM me if interested

another vote for motorcycledave, com. I have is gel pad in my 2012 stock RTL. I bought his kit and installed it myself. He has a video on his website as well as pictures on how to do the install. I was able to do the job myself with a few calls to Dave. He was very helpful and is a very friendly guy. He wants you to be able to install the kit and to be successful. For me it turned a 2 hour seat into an all day seat.

Thanks Jerry for the atta boy,
I am more than happy to talk to anyone
who has a seat problem and I can in moat all
cases cure their problem
