There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Recommendations for cleaning and restoring shine to chrome wheels?

I've tried Merlin's Blood for cleaning wheels, with mixed success. So, I'm not interested in that product.

Anything else that you have found works well to clean the grime and brake dust off chrome wheels and restore the shine? Maybe it's two different products (cleaning and polishing). I'd like to maintain the show-room look of my two RTs.

Thanks.

I'm going to try the wheel cleaner that Lamont sells in Lamonster Garage. He is one of the sponsors of this forum and is listed on the front page. It is supposed to be very good.

Yes, I was looking at that. But, I'm tired of spending money only to find out the product doesn't work as advertised. So, I'll be interested to hear of your experience with it. Thanks.

I do not have chrome rims on my spyder, but I do have them on my lightning. I have neglected my rims quite a bit over the past 2 years. I am going to give some Mothers Chrome polish that I have used on my cobra rims. They worked wonders on the rims after simply washing them with car wash soap and water. I hope to post pictures of my latest results as soon as my back will allow for a hand wash on the vehicle.

Man, don't be screwing up your BACK! I hope you're able to get it fixed right and soon.

Chrome wheels

2 step process;
clean
polish
not found anything that removes brake dust like Merlin’s blood. Works great. Then follow up with soap and water to remove residue.
Mothers chrome polish, simichrome, brasso, busches wheel polish, or 0000 steel wool. Then wax with car wax. Sparkly!!

I find this product works well.

spray on,let it soak in for a bit rinse off, Then I use soap and water and wash the wheel tire and it like brand new again.

The residue cleanup is where I've had difficulty. I wasn't able to get it off with soap and water. I finally had to use a paint stripper. Don't know what I was doing wrong but want to avoid that problem again.

Windex

Pete, I'm guessing you've tried a variety of chrome polishes. I like the Dupont and Griot's Garage products, but don't often use them as too time consuming. Personally I think one of the best, and quickest products to make chrome shine is Windex. Have you tried this?

Rob, actually I haven't bought any chrome polishes in many years. So, before I spent a ton of money experimenting with different products, I thought I'd get some recommendations.

I haven't tried Windex, but I will. Thanks for the tip!

Previously, I just used soap and water, followed with wiped down with a detailer / polish. However, I recently tried Merlin's Blood and really like it. Regardless of how you clean the grime or brake dust off, i recommend a good wipe down with a quality detailer. Personally, I really like Lamont's black diamond detailer and often use it during a quick wipe down after a short ride.
