Recalled Fuel Pump Number, Same Part Number As One It Replaced

I thought I could breathe easy after I had my 2022 Sport's pump replaced a few days ago due to the recall. Now, I'm not so sure.

In putting my paperwork away, thought I'd take a picture of the new one before installing the tank cover. When comparing the numbers between the two photos, the new pump's part number is the same as the one that was in the bike they just replaced. It should have been a new pump from BRP because the dealer told me they didn't have the part when I made arrangement to get the job done, but then they got it in and I had it done. I know they replaced it because I marked the original just to be sure.

Guess I need to call BRP Monday to find out what's going on. I'm getting ready to take a trip over in the wilds of WV, and I damn sure don't need a fuel pump crap out on me.

Only a specific serial number range was affected - I got that from a dealer. The supplier changed the plastic of the impeller, which was found to cause problems.

I was wondering about that. Unfortunately, the notice I think we all got only mentioned the part numbers. After I peeled off the tank cover, I saw mine was one of the ones that was (possibly) affected. I would like to think that the dealer was savvy enough to check the serial number of mine to warrant its replacement, and ditto that for the new one he installed with the same part number.

If you, or anyone else out there has those serial number ranges, I'd sure like to know what they are before I go back over there and pester those folks again.

The dealer service tech told me that affected fuel pump serial numbers are in the range 079 to 176 (first three digits). Hard to tell from the photo, but mine started with a 2. Unfortunately it failed anyway, although it did not leave me stranded.

I found a subsequent post that listed the serial number ranges. My original pump's first several numbers fell in that range (174-XXX). The "new" pump numbers do not (438-XXX), so I think we're good.
