• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Recall and 2nd Update Thoughts

I know this may be redundant, as others have posted similar results, but I want to convey my thoughts. I had the recall and 2nd update, to include the hose extension for the evaporation canister, done a few days ago on Wednesday. I had the oportunity to ride for a while today and can say that the difference in steering is quite considerable. The steering seems more responsive for both high and low speed maneuvers, and I didn't notice any ill effects. Additionally, my Spyder is running absolutely wonderfully. The most important thing to note, is that after my ride, I looked underneath the Spyder and noticed a bit of fluid dripping from the new hose that drains underneath the spyder. I did the "touch and smell" test and noticed that it was raw fuel. I don't know if this could lead to some answers for the unfortunate spyder owners that have watched their spyders burn, but I think the longer hose from the evap cannister is definitely one of the most important reasons to get the update; from a safety standpoint. I was somewhat indifferent about the recall and update before I got them, because all seemed well. However, after my observation today, I wonder where that fuel had been dripping before. Definitely disconcerning.

As an additional "project" today, I worked on my brakes. I had the pads replaced with BRP's new brake pads a while back, but still had plenty of squeeking. I cleaned everything with CRC brake cleaner, and then put CRC brake quiet on the back of the pads. The result is awesome. Absolutely zero noise. I couldn't be happier. However, nothing is ever easy in my garage. One of the little clips on the backside of the front brake pads took flight. I heard it deflect off of several surfaces, including my ceiling, before striking the spyder. Well after moving everything, and sweeping the entire garage, I revomed several panels from the spyder. I found it lying on the belly pan.

I'm looking forward to some awesome riding tomorrow with the unseasonably warm temps. Hope everyone else gets a chance for one more good ride this season!

how do you get the pads off? I had the calipers off but the pads seem to be "locked" on. you mention a clip - can you tell me how the pads come off the caliper?

thanks!

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures as I went. The clips help keep the pads in place and keep them in contact with the pistons. If you pull the pads away from the piston, you can get a flat screw driver in there and pry the clip away from the pad. Once you've done that, you can remove the pad to clean and appy the quiet solution. However, re-installing the clip on the pad was the difficult part for me. That is the part that I alluded to with "the clip took flight." It is pretty obvious how to do it, but requires a little dexterity and patience. Be patient, the procedure is worth it!
