• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Reasons to Like the 2013 RT

What's not to like?

Deer in the headlights newbie here with less than 300 miles on our new '13 RT SE5 so I haven't had to endure any of the problems others have reported.

Long-time motorcycle rider but I've ridden several "killer" off-road 3-wheelers without incident. I've been the proud owner of a late 70s Honda Goldwing with a Vetter Terraplane sidecar. I also toured briefly with a Trikeshop VW trike. My latest excursion into the 3-wheel world (before the Spyder) was with a Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive true trike conversion from thetrinitytrike.com / now yelvingtontrikes.com. This conversion is an engineering tour-de-force. Unfortunately the heavy steering played havoc with my back (never properly healed after being broken 3 years ago).

Diminishing 2-wheel riding skills and reduced reaction times drove me to the 3-wheel world. I found that my riding enjoyment was compromised by thoughts of falling down and going boom and the exponentially longer healing times of my 70 year-old body.

Yes, accommodating to the different riding dynamics has been a challenge. But, once I past the 200 mile mark, it feels like the learning curve has gone nearly flat.

I'm not sure I'll ever be comfortable with this engine's operating power band over the long haul, but I guess I'll have to. I've reached that point in my life where I can no longer keep spending my money on the latest/greatest tech of the moment.

More power to those of you who can.

Regards,

Dan

We love our 2013 RT-S

The wife and I love our 2013 RT-S. Every chance we get we are on it and going some where new. It has been a real joy. I read about the heat problems some have had and feel sorry for them and hope they get their rides fixed. But most people seem to really love their 2013` The 2014 look like a nice next step for BRP and when I wear out the 2013 I`ll look into updating.

My biggest problem is I do not get any kick back for selling the spyder at every stop I make. Every one wants to know all about it and I feel like a BRP rep selling the machine, I love it.:yes:

So far I'm enjoying my new 2013 RT Limited. I haven't experienced any real heat issues that others have had. I did have the recall service done for the master cylinder and canister wrap. As far as the 2014's go, I'm sure improvements have been made, but time will tell if any other issues arise. I got a good price for the 2013 and decided not to hold out for the 2014.

Local Dealer has LOTS of 13's for Sale

Wandering thru the lower maintenance/storage area of the dealer in Winston-Salem NC yesterday while some service on mine was being done, I counted 19 still in the crates, and about 15 on the floor ready to go. I think they're making some killer deals on these machines in order to make room for the 14's.

In talking to the mechanic working on mine, he pointed out that the offending exhaust pipe heat on the 13's is laid out about the same as on previous models and with the recall shielding shouldn't be any problem. He's not had any melted parts. Other than that, he said the only other problem he had encountered was the purge valve that caused rough running and was a simple fix.

After talking to him I've changed my mind about the 13's and were I in the market for a new one would seriously consider it. Only downside I can see is that they have now been labeled as an odd duck and it might be harder to sell down the road. Upside is, they can be had at good prices now.

The mechanic at my dealer pretty much had similar things to say. Of all the recall work done as of 2 weeks ago, he has not seen one RT with any melted parts or problems.

Many people go to forums for advice before buying an item such as the Spyder. Also, many people who have problems are the ones posting to the forums looking for answers. As with any forum, the problems posted typically represent only a very small portion of the population which is why people need to do their own research and cut through fact from fiction. On any forum for any problem, you will find conflicting opinions on any topic.

the dealer that is trying to work up a price for me on a trade in was telling me yesterday he has 4 new 13's and he is selling a rt limited for 21095.00 so how are we going to trade in a bike and take a big loss unless we have money to throw away
