• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

rear wheel skipping round on a tightish corner.

As a newbie to this forum with a 2010 RTS perhaps other members have had an experience of the rear wheel skipping round on tightish corners.
I shall try to be more explicit and say as you negotiate a left hand corner the back wheel skips round to the right as if it is trying to catch up with you. This happens when riding one or two up with tyre pressures at Rear 30 and fronts at 20. Fronts shocks at no 5 setting and rear shock at no 4.
Any ideas anyone?.

Mine was kind of hopping in corners when hitting bumps. The shock had no damping at all. Got a new shock under warranty. The setting for the rear is the air bag, it is separate from the shock.

Exactly. I second this. Check the rear shock. The 2010 had a rash of bad rear shocks.

:welcome: The rear wheel will "step out" on you a bit, it you encounter surface irregularities; just as on any vehicle. Is this occurring on all roads; regardless of their condition?

Skipping along..!!

things to check...as mentioned the rear shock, tires (air pressure to high, tire worn out), road conditions (gravel, sand etc) and the nanny working the rear brake. I have mostly felt the nanny or hopping over road debris...

Two weeks ago in the NC foothills I hit a couple of small patches of sand and the rear wheel skipped out a bit on me. Both incidents got my attention, the first more so because I was powering out of a low spot and it was my first experience with my Spyder in such conditions. On the second I was forewarned about the sand and didn't have as much power dialed on.

My personal experience, do not accelerate going into the turn only coming out! I thought I was on an ice patch in the middle of July.

Skipping or stepping out.

Many thanks for your observations Guys, I might have had a bit of throttle on as I negotiated the corner or alternatively I might have been braking ... can't remember now. My back tyre pressure may have been about 31 That might have influenced it and made it skip. The rear shock seems to be working OK and set at no4 position and the tyre has plenty of tread left on it. I probably need to get it checked out when it's next serviced in this coming winter, anyway thanks for your ideas.

31 psi might be a little bit on the high side... but not unduly so!
Heavy inputs during a hard lateral maneuver, will almost always "upset the applecart" a bit...

I can say that a 2014 RT-S will do the same thing if you push it hard. You can also get a demonstration of the stability control system at the same time.
