There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. rear tire road splash

I am looking into buying a new Spyder and was wondering about the rear tire slinging water up onto the passenger or rider from a wet road. If its raining you will have a rain suit on, but at other times when riding you may have to go through water in your path.

The way the rear fender is so short, the rear tire exposed and the seat raised above the tire it looks like the passenger at least...would receive a lot of road water splash being thrown up from the rear tire from underneath.

What has been your experiences been with this water issue ?

Thanks!

all water, mud, and debris are blocked by the fender or thrown into the under tail. My passengers have never gotten muddy or wet from the rear tire- only from JACKASSES WHO AIM THEIR LAWN SPRINKLERS AT THE ROAD AT 5:00 A.M. WHEN IT'S 45 DEGREES!!!!

I'm done. :yikes:

I took off my back fender. I ride 2-up every other weekend and she has never gotten anything on her. I ride in the rain all the time and still never anything on my back that is not from sky. I have ever performed a burnout..not on purpose in the grass field and nothing on me. Agian, this is all without the fender.

thanks for the replies

Thanks to both 'daddydarko' and 'patches' for your replies. It is reassuring that the gap/area between the exposed part of the upper tire and the seat does not transfer dirt nor water to the passenger. My wife would not be happy with my purchase at all if it did!

...and 'patches' with you having removed your rear fender it is really a great indication that the seat is well designed to keep any up motion road splash from the rear tire controlled and off the passenger.

'patches' what was your reason for you removing your rear fender?

thanks to the both of you!

I only removed it to look cooler..lol. Really no reason but I really like the way it looks with the big ole tire on the back. No reason to hide the tire.
