There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Rear Tire - Pre-2013 Compound

Rear Tire Compound http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/smilies/51.gif

The dealer called BRP and verified that the pre-2013 tire compound ending numbers are 464.
I (Glenn R Venable - Dahlonega,Ga) have received two emails from BRP saying there has been no change to the compound for the rear tire since 2013. Any 64 or 464 number is just an identification number for the tire. I have a 2014 RTS that has 7000 miles on it and the back tire is entirely worn out. The 2 front tires look new.

Thank you.

Looking at Kumho tire but dealer will not mount. Two questions

Sadly whether you got the so called Bad Kenda or the so called good Kenda you are still likely to be replacing the tire at 12000 miles at most.
(My 2014 only lasted 8000 miles) in contrast several car tires will last 30000 miles or longer at half the price. my current Kumho on the back already has 18000 miles on it..

I managed to get 10,000 mi. out of my Kenda (2014 Limited touring model -- purchased Mar. 2014). Discount Tire Direct refused to sell me the Kumho because it's not rated for a MC (including the Spyder). I'm looking for it elsewhere, but my dealer refused to mount it for the same reason, citing insurance/liability issues.
I will find a Kumho somewhere but will have to hunt for someone to mount.

Two Questions

1. Will having a Kumho affect my own insurance?

2. Will a 215/60 r15 fit work on a 2014 RT?

Thanks!

1. Will having a Kumho affect my own insurance? .....Some will argue it will , but I seriously doubt it !!!!!!!

2. Will a 215/60 r15 fit work on a 2014 RT........Absolutely , and this size gives you many more choices. Plus it corrects the speedo / odometer to better accuracy....

Thanks!.............Your very welcome and places that do car tires can also do the rear wheel if they have a large CONE adapter......

5,000 miles on a 215/60/15 Michelin Primacy, no problems with traction wet or dry, handling is great, rides smooth, shows very little wear, speedometer within 1 mph of GPS.:)

NO COMPARISION

Just keep in mind that car tires have much worse traction than motorcycle (or Spyder) tires. If you don't ride aggressively, it probably won't matter.

12,000 miles is pretty long life for a motorcycle tire. I have ridden Goldwings for 15 years and I think I ever went that far on a set. I used to be crazy aggressive and needed all the traction I could get. Sport bike tires are even more sticky and they seldom go even 5,000 miles. Point is, there is always a trade-off between long life and good grip. It is a mistake to conclude that motorcycle tires are worse than car tires simply because they don't last as long.
:lecturef_smilie:....Comparing the Motorcycle tires ( Kenda ) that are put on the Spyder and ANY other Motorcycle tires for ANY other TWO wheel motorcyle is like comparing apples to oranges .....................The two wheeler's MUST lean to turn, the Spyder doesn't ( can't actually ). Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd the footprint of a regular motorcycle is about 30 % of what a Spyder has so naturally it's going to wear faster.........More weight per square inch of contact......It's simple physics ...........................JMHO.......Mike
