There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Sempert out,

in the world of Iron Butt and long distance riding, a tour tank is a separate fuel tank that feeds the primary one...the question is will the rack hold 3 gallons of fuel plus the container. fuel is 6# a gallon plus the tank...so I guess we're looking to be safe at 25#. the question is will the rack safely hold 25# ???

i yhink the sports rack eill have cleaner look, & able to remove lid could prove handy, if I decide to swap out for a topcase.

The rack itself is a non-issue. An adult could sit back there, its a quality setup. However, if your mounting to the rack top plate, you'll want to be mindful. Not so much for weight, but load shift or lift. The plate is only held into place with two aluminum tabs and a single pin. I could see one of the tabs breaking if hit hard enough from the side or behind.

The BRP back rest that goes with the sport rack is held in place the same way. What about those tabs breaking off? I have that set up, and never really gave it a second thought. I also have a GIVI top case mounted to the back of the back rest.

Good question. I'd assume only used as a backrest it will be fine. Adding a box to the back does add more pressure to the tabs. I know that I am super careful of those front tabs when storing the backrest. I could see them breaking from a side impact or if one of the tabs was cracked/damaged while off the bike.
With all of that being said, I've had my 47l Givi top case (mounted to a spare lid) packed tight and never felt for my wife's safety.

Its probably more durable than what we would believe and likely were over thinking it. Lol. Anyone ever heard of one fail?

Mine broke when I hit a small log someone left in the middle of the road. It broke one of the aluminum tabs that holds the pin. I had a Givi top case lightly loaded. The extra mass of the top case broke the small tab. In my opinion, the tabs are way too small for carrying a load.

To keep the rack and top case, I made a custom mount that uses a 3/8" bolt instead of the two small aluminum tabs. It is much stronger.
