• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear rotor hot

Every time I come back from a ride I notice that the rear rotor is hot to the touch. I roll the spyder back and fourth and it rolls freely. Does not seem to have the brake pad rubbing. Can anybody tell me if their rear rotor get a little hot after a ride. Thanks for anything you lend. Maybe this is normal, I don't know.

Take it for a quick ride and try not to use the brake. Then check it again. If is cool then you just need to stop using the brake! :2thumbs:

Brakes generate heat when they work. Whether yours is a normal amount of heat or not is a question we cannot answer over the Internet, but I suspect what you are experiencing is normal if you are getting no bad discoloration (bluing) or rotor warping, and if the wheel turns freely.

In the fire service we had a saying for situations like this

"Heat does that"

Oh well, you'd have to be there to appreciate it.

The rotor probably isn't as hot as you think relative to how hot they get when braking.

Sounds like everything is fine. As long as the wheel turns freely you should be ok.

Rotors get pretty hot and they retain heat for some time. Be sure you're not laying your foot on the brake peddle (not likely).

The brake pads do rub lightly on the rotor all the time. They don't back completly off like the old brake shoes used to. But that slight amount of touch won't heat a rotor up.

Long as that brake assembly isn't smelling like hot brakes, or smoking, then they are probably working as designed.
