• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear reflector gone, imagine that....

This post is related to a previous post from I believe June.
My rear reflector vibrated off the Spyder somewhere a month ago. Spyder has 14XXX miles on it so it's not covered under warranty. So I have to pay $50 something dollars to buy the whole part when all I need is the reflector. That is manufacturing robbery in my opinion. Why can't they sell just the part being held on with one, ONE, ONE, Yes, ONE single screw?
So now I have this nice new part sitting in it's box on a shelf. Missing only the reflector cover. Of course this part will come in handy if I ever get rearended. (not funny)
I have not replace the short screw with a longer one but I did use electrical tape to help secure it to the rest of the part. The black electrical tape blends in very nicely with the flat black part. I will replace the tape every couple of months.
How's that for a rant? :gaah:
Anybody have any cheese to go with my wine?

no cheese

but some where on here there is a post about a tail light from wally world that was only about 10.00

I'll have to look but

I'll have to take a look around truck but this is not a generic piece. The piece that fell off, besides having a reflector on it also covers and encloses the light bulb. Thanks. JW

I HEAR YA

I hear ya bro. This shoud be addressed by BRP. It is a crock having to purchase the entire piece. It's not as if it is manufactured as an entire unit. It is a piece they have to screw on to the unit. Oh yea, did I mention it was held on by one screw? Grrrrrr. This machine already cost quite a bit to own. Don't make us bend over and grab our ankles.....

It is their problem to begin with. It is happening on new Spyders as well as older ones. It's bullsh...... !

Oh yeah- 3M #33 electrical tape has held on many a lens on many a motorcycle I have owned. Now that I got advance warning I think I'll go tape up the original reflector before it defects and escapes into the snowbanks.

mine fell off last week. I found retangluar red boxes at WallyWorld, Anderson's and Meijers but all were slightly too wide or not deep enough.

CAN AM wants $50 for the light housing and missing cover (that's BS) Anyone got a spare for sale or know of a wrecked spyder juckyard piece?

How would this be considered a warranty problem? failed screw? Mine is only 6 months old

Lost mine last spring, and the dealer replaced it under warranty. I had to send the rest of the light back to them. Used a longer screw and put silicone on the screw threads :2thumbs:

You can use one of the flat reflectors.just trim it down to size and drill a hole for the screw. Then just expoy it where the old one is missing from the housing.you can get longer screws with a finish washer from auto zone or advance in the car help section.I tell you this because i had to do it at Gattlinburg last September when mine fell off and passed me on the road.

I got rid of the useless reflector. I went and bought a after market Cat's eye tail light. Now I have a white plate light and a red running light. Looks a lot better than that stupid imitation tail light.

Dealer's Service Mgr put in a claim to BMP a week ago under my warranty...He called yesterday that they approved it and are shipping the new part. :ohyea::clap::2thumbs:
