They're actually pretty easy... I have this honkin' big old screwdriver, that I'd fit between the pads, and give a quick twist... :thumbup:

Barrow or buy a brake caliper compressor from auto zone if 2012 or earlier harbor freight has them too

A big C-clamp works well. $15 at just about any hardware store.

Remember...

if you added brake fluid at any time you may have to remove some fluid or watch the reservoir for seepage while compressing the piston. All the above work well for compressing and make sure no one steps on the brakes while you have them apart...:thumbup:
