• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear brake sticking - what did I miss?

First time changing the pads and tire.
Turned a lotta wrenches the last 50 years, so how hard could it be?
Watched a couple of videos and away we go.

Got the piston screwed in (just like my Honda sedan), pads in place, and torqued all the bolts.
Brake pedal pumped up ok, fluid level checked and good.
Short test ride went well.

Wife took it to work today. Upon returning home there's a horrible squeal from the rear brake.
Rotor and caliper are warmer than they should be.
Parking brake sets and releases ok.
WTH did I miss?!?!?

Didn’t mention cleaning dust off :dontknow:  previous pads had even wear? Do the new pads need to be “seated”? (Heating Procedure for some variation new pads) glad caught & aware, before something fails.

Make sure your brake cables aren't hanging up a little. Did you make any adjustments on the cable when you had it apart? Did you butter the back of the pads with anti-squeal paste? And sometimes it works well to put a little chamfer on the forward and leading edges of the pads with a file or grinder.

Nothing appears to be hanging up. I'll try the chamfer. No adjusemts made. Will dismantle tonvlean and lube.

Putting anti-seize on slide points can help. Have you spun the wheel to see how much drag you are getting? You'll always get a little bit. And it's harder to tell on the rear wheel because of the drive components. But it should still be pretty obvious. Beveling the leading edge may help with squeal, as will applying a brake quieting gel. But it won't do anything for a dragging pad set.

Hope you find the solution.

When was the last brake fluid flush? (Shouldn't be more than 2 years.)

Did you use an entire 16oz bottle of fluid? (Anything less leaves old fluid in the brake system, especially with the big hoses from the reservoir.)
