• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RT A&C 8800 mi replaced rear tire with michelin hydroedge installed by dealer, just turned 10k on it and I hear this grinding noise when I make sharp left turns. reckon it has anything to do with them replacing the tire and readjusting the belt tension? anyone else have this experience? taking it in to the dealer tomorrow and I reckon it's covered, just wonder why all of a sudden after they replaced the tire it starts doing this thousand miles later:yikes:

That sure seems early for those bearings to let go like that!
Most folks have settled in around here with changing them out at every other rear tire change...
I wonder how they set up your belt tension? :dontknow:
Good Luck! Please let us know what you find!

UPDATE

So dealer called and said they couldn't hear the noise...after they got that addressed I was hoping they'd put BajaRons plugs and wires in under warranty since I have a PITPASS, but they wont until it's due for the is it 15k service? just not as crisp off idle as it's been although not missing, i suspect either the heat this summer took it's toll on the plug wires or maybe the air box has oil in it. But that's a separate issue.
When I wouldn't pay for the plug and wire installation we'll see if they can find the noise tomorrow! Have to drive 50 mi each way across town to get to my dealer so it's really irksome to hear they can't hear the noise.
I have the missing belt guard and suspected that's where the noise was coming from, but when I jacked it up monday to check, it didn't sound like that was the culprit. Do all the belt guards kind of flop around a little? The noise seemed to be in the rear axle more like a groaning. I suspect they know what it is but to admit it might mean they'd have to fix it. Patience is a fur chew they say! :banghead:

I also had my dealer install the HydroEdge. The sidewall is a little rounder & he had to trim the belt guard some to clear the tire. The noise went away. Love the tire, have about 6K on it.

Just an FYI about the rear bearings from personal experience

079.jpg 073.jpg IMG_20120923_134502.jpg IMG_20120923_134642.jpg

We have a 2011 RT-S & its used as our daily driver even thru winter & we have over 34,000 miles & we had a flat recently on the rear tire. So I decided to go ahead & switch to a car tire, but since I was mostly already there, decided to replace the bearings as well. At 34,OOO miles, and ryding thru winter & salt covered roads (albeit, only a few times) our bearings (except the one) all looked pretty good & funtioned as they should, tho the 1 had a bit of corrosion on the outside from the metal circlip, they really didn't need to be replaced.

Moral of the post:
Unless your Service Department put something together incorrectly, I'd highly doubt you'd have a bearing issue at such low miliage, but that's just IMHO;)

Whatever the problem, I hope they get it figured out quickly for you and that your back on the road soon and able to
 ENJOY THE RYDE

They trimmed the missing belt guard I picked it up early this am when I got off work, 3am, didn't hear any noise on the way home. :clap:Thanks Cyncy Spyder, that's good to know about the bearings. I drive it daily but work isn't 10 mins away.
