Rear Axle Nut Size + Cotter pin size

Hey guys.

Wondering what size wrench and socket are required for removing the rear wheel.

- Looks like a 34mm or maybe a 35mm. Can anyone confirm?


- The nuts on both side of the axle look to be the same size, correct?


- What size/spec cotter pin is required on the right hand side of the axle when re-installing the wheel?

If the cotter pin comes out clean [not mangled] i reuse it.
If i have any doubts about it I'll just match it with one out of a box of them that i have in my garage.
You can get packages of assorted sizes at Home Depot, Napa etc.

That is what I'd be looking for a package of assorted ones. I'll add this to my list of items to get when I make a resource run again soon.

Assorted package would be best, since my Spyder is my only source of transportation and I'd hate to be putting my machine together and not have a cotter pin on hand to install. I know it can be ridden without one, say to the shop to get one, but I'd rather install a new one in my garage.

Just remember that cotter pin is the only thing that will stop the nut from
falling off. [if some other nut didn't tighten it]:roflblack:

You can even use a nail in a pinch. pps:

I know it's not the same, But when I'm out on my Tractor and using a York rake/Drag bar/Brush hog, those pins quite often pull out.
But for a temporary fix it's a great idea.:thumbup:

I was thinking of the same possibility. I remember having a turbo hopper RC car on these type of clips kept the body on... but not for long .

The cotter pin would be safer as it is bent around the axel.

What purpose does the pin/clip serve anyhow? Stops the nut from falling right off if/when the axle get VERY loose.
