• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

realistic Touring Range of the RT

Posted in another thread

Respectfully, I have to say that you are missing the point, or at least missing my point.
It's not how the RT stacks up against other motorcycles.
It's how far can you go between fill-ups. I'm unconcerned with how others perform, it's the performance I expect after spending $25000 on a vehicle.

In my opinion a range of 120 miles for a vehicle that is ostensibly designed to eat up highway miles is just inadequate. If nothing can be done to increase the MPG, then as an alternative I'd like to explore the options to carry more gas onboard the vehicle.

...

Wow, straight out of Wikipedia. It doesn't matter to me what the octane rating is in Europe, I don't drive there.
We are fleeced at the pump by price and quality.
I don't see how your Wiki argument supports that. We pay less for our gas here than they do in Europe. The QUALITY of the gas is no different, only the octane ADDITIVE is different. And since the engines are set up for the fuel we use in the US, we don't NEED the European fuels.
Question.... Why do all the countries you have listed in your Wiki have such wide ranges of octane ratings (which is an ADDITIVE, not a measure of QUALITY).:dontknow:

Well.... the "QUALITY" aspect, as it relates to ENERGY content, is pathetic.

One Gallon of "REAL" 100% oil based gasoline = 114,100 BTU, where as, one gallon of E10 is 111,836 BTU and one gallon of E85 = 90,500 BTU

Less energy = less MPG and performance.

So, based on that aspect, i would agree the "QUALITY" sucks.

feeding corn to an internal combustion engine?

My Suzuki VL-1500 dropped gas mileage by about 4mpg when our past leader went for adding alcohol to the petrol supply full time. . . . well, at least it is profitable to grow corn.
On yet another issue; I haven't quite got the fill up thing down. . . . even after 2300 miles. Every once in awhile, I try to try and 'top off the tank' with the hope that I will get the level to stay at the bottom of the nozzle stop . . . but the gas settles once again to a level below that. Sometimes I end up with the trike giving off the smell of gas for a long period of time. Could there be a smog related canister that is taking some of the petrol? What do ya think Scotty? Am I messing up the warp drive. :ani29::ani29:

I'm not sure about the RT, but the RS will try to fill the evap canister if you try to top it off to the fill ring. I think it probably has as much to do with the vent position and the direction of flow into the tank, as it does anything else. It can ruin the evap canister and cause the Spyder to smell gassy. I fill only until the gas starts to work out of the fill ring vents, while filling very slowly. It always drops to just below the ring, just like yours. Same thing on my BMW. It makes almost no difference in the range per tank, so there is no sense in overfilling. I just try to be consistent.
