• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ready to buy a Spyder, please help.

Ready to buy a :f_spider:, please help me out with pricing. I am considering purchasing a brand new Black 2011 RTS SE5 from a dealer in Cullman AL. What do you think would be a fair price to pay for a 2011 model since the 2012's are starting to arrive?

I got my 2011 rt-ac a month ago for 22300 before tax and fees. I forget the deisignation, but mine is a manual shift, not the paddle shifter. Tis was after a 1000$ rebate and free 5 year extended warranty through BRPs BEST program. Hope that helps. The RTs has more goodies on it like chrome accents, fog lights, gps, push button suspension adjustment, and the passenger audio package. So my guess is about 25-26 pre tax/fees

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO LOOK OUTSIDE OF YOUR AREA. There are several dealers offering RTS SE5s for $23500 or less, & I've seen a couple of base RTs for under $19000 - plan on shipping at $1000, and go from there.

Good Luck!

Did you purchase it new?

Thank you for responding. I have received quotes ranging from $24.500 to $25.899 out the door. Central Florida is the cheapest so far but I would have to travel to Florida to make the transaction and ship the spyder to Alabama. Is that $23500 out the door?

Congratulations on your pending :spyder2: purchase.

I am on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to purchasing new. We see a lot of complaints about lowball purchases. The dealer throws them together, and don't get them right--because they know they will probably never see you again. The new purchaser then posts on SL that they just bought a piece of junk.

:spyder2: is a very technical machine and needs to be set up properly by someone who knows what they are doing.

I try to make my purchases from the dealer that will be servicing my machine and doing any warranty work. I believe that a good relationship with that dealer is very important. I have never got the lowest price I could find--but do get the price I feel is fair.

Enjoy the hunt, and let us know what happens.

^ Totally Agree! And also consider what your dealer charges in maintenance. You don't want a dealer who's gonna charge $300 for an oil change.

Thank you, this makes a lot of sense. Cullman AL is the closest spyder dealer to Huntsville which is still about 50 miles. I have been following this site since late summer trying to make up my mind on weather I should invest this much money into a Spyder. It has been a long hard struggle decision wise to decide. I have been scared off at times from reading some of the issues people have experienced. However, I have decided to take the gamble and pray that I will be one of the lucky owners.

Remember, negative comments always carry more weight than positive ones in a persons mind, and there are always seems to be more negative comments than positive ones, because when everything is going well, people don't tend to say anything. They just bitch when something goes wrong.

I totally agree with you. I read a view posted on here that explianed that the negative issues posted reflect only a fraction of the spyders without problems. The maintenance cost has been another scare for me but am too excited to think about that right now.

There are tons more happy owners than the few who have serious problems . It seems to me many happy Spyder owners will tell you face to face in conversation, but few will post unlike the unhappy owners .These are high mileage machines so I wouldn't rule out picking up a lightly used 2010 or 2011 as there are some great deals to be had .What ever way you go get the B.E.S.T. warranty .

I definitely plan to purchase the warranty and I would not turn down a good per owned 2011 model.

I bought my RT SE5 with under 1K on the clock for under $20K in NH, and I live in Oregon. I knew my local dealer easily ranked in the lower 10%, so that wasn't an issue for me. Dealers make money, and survive an economy like the one we currently have, by quality service - not by giving preference to purchasers. If you cave to local high prices, you just lose more money in the long run (JMHO).

BTW, my RT has been a rock…..

Wow, was this price for a new spyder?
