Ready for Winter

Just installed my Gerbing controller for my heated jacket liner. The dealer wanted to charge $330 so I thought I'd do it myself. I was a little worried about taking everything apart for the first time but it wasn't that bad. Now I'm ready for other installs!

I put the controller on the left side panel.

Ha ha! Yes, we do have slightly different winter temperatures in the Phoenix area than NY, but when we travel into the higher areas it can get cold. This week the lows in the Grand Canyon are in the 30's!

Nice job, Tony. I was trying to do the very same thing this weekend to my wife's 2014 RT. But couldn't get the stooopid mirrors off, to get the other body parts off. :banghead: Any advice? We also have a 2012, but the mirrors don't seem to come off the same way [whack upward on the mirror until your palm is bruised and bloody, while learning a new vocabulary].

I would love to mount the gerbings controller up by the switches on the console, rather than drill into body parts, and stow the outlet cord under the seat until needed. Where did you tap for power?

2012 Mirrors are the same. I've done the panels off on both my 2012 and my 2014.

I went with the wireless controller for the heated gear, the power line for the jacket comes direct from battery (fused of course), and then I poke it out of the gas cap door on my seat (aftermarket seat). Works great. The wireless controller is attached to the top of the left handlebar.

The heated seat is wired into the rear accessory plug. It should be relayed off of the battery but I didn't feel like running that much wire back and forth, and the accessory plug puts out enough amps for it.
