• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:agree: As well...
I don't care if he likes my ride or not
I hope that he feels the same way about my opinion of his ride.

Stealing the thread

OK, I'm a research geek - My 2014 RT cost me $18K, my SS SL cost $22K, how can they build a FWD Elio for $8000 and make money?? Research indicates the Elio has a higher quality value, and more utility than the SS, for less than half the dough$$$$ ????? :dontknow:

Just another indication that ACPAOTI (anyone can post anything on the internet). The author certainly seems to have a significant issue with pop-culture celebrity (frankly, I don't disagree), but has projected that distaste onto the Spyder because some popular figures ride them.

A long-accepted definition of a motorcycle is a two- or three-wheeled vehicle. Look up Butler's Velocycle from 1884, regarded as the first vehicle to meet the motorcycle definition - familiar architecture, yes?

Unfortunately, it appears that the author needs to validate his own existence by narrowly defining the word "biker" to meet his own preferences. He defines Ewan McGregor as a "real biker" (again, I don't disagree), but McGregor is a BMW aficionado, and there are certainly those motorcyclists who would balk at the idea of a British guy riding a German bike as a "biker".

Frankly, when riding a Spyder, you're straddling an engine on less than 4 wheels, steering with handlebars, you're passenger sits behind you, and you are unencumbered by a roof, doors or any cage. You share the vulnerability of open-air riding with your fellow brothers and sisters on the road. You're a biker (if you don't mind the classification) along with me on my Yamaha Raider and my wife on her RS-S.

GunDoctor, I really like the creed. First time I have read it. This guy tried to come across as being non-judgmental. He failed!

The local paper a couple years ago had story about a real hard core biker. The main part was about something elswe, but the hard core bkiker had put somehing like 19 thousand miles on his bike (name withehld by me) in only 25 years. he put every one of them on it.
Ride what you like and can afford. As above " I do not need your approval to do what I do.

Elio has 64,000 deposits - that's more than the SS has. Anyone know if the Elio is classified a a motorcycle too?? Just curious.

This sort of opinion has been around a long time, and never seems to go away. A lot of us who came from cruisers will remember when Japanese cruisers hit the American market in force a few decades ago. Those who rode "rice burners" were called "posers" and "wannabes". Truth is that the Japanese cruisers ran better than the Harleys of that time, and many were more fun to ride - i.e. the "classic" Yamaha VMAX, or even the powerful, low-slung Kawasaki Vulcans.

I never quite understand the threat some "bikers" feel towards Spyders & Spyder Ryders?
I have ridden both 2 & 3 wheel Bikes and I have to say for comfort & fun factor my Spyder wins hands down! We're all open air riders, we ALL love to ride!

It was great to see so many folks jump down this guy's throat. According to him, a conversion trike is ok because the person riding it used to ride on two wheels and the folks who ride spyders are obviously posers. Sorry...but what an idiot.

OK, I'm a Spyder rider. Does this make me a "Biker" or not? Don't know, don't care. Anyway, I'm in no hurry to join any club that Bozo columnist belongs to!
