• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Re fuel and touring

I am coming from a motorcycle where I got 50mpg. I am willing to accept the lower mpg for the spyder but is anyone carrying extra file onboard while traveling and how? I don't want to invest the $$$ in a fuel feel but was curious if anyone has solved the extra fuel idea.

got mine from magicman "Reda gas can", a vendor on this site. http://www.esicycleproducts.com/ I store on the left rear side case

I modified a 1 gallon, 4 oz fuel can that was squattier and wider. It fits as seen in the picture. I took off the cap and made a custom metal insert with a heavy gasket so when I have it one no fumes or fuel can escape. I have used it for 2 years now (1 year on my last bike) and still good as new. This takes up very little space as you can see.

I added velcro straps and non skid liner in the side case to every thing in place.

Good luck

If you feel you need extra fuel on board, the Reda seems the way to go. For me, I like to get off the bike and stretch every 75 miles or so--meaning a fuel stop every other stretch.

I agree completely, but there are some stretches of road where you could find yourself walking if you're not careful. Think 'Texas', & you'll know what I mean. I have four Reda cans - two for each saddlebag - when on a long trip.

At our local dealers it is closer to $40, thats why a designed my own cap which is the only main difference. If I had a Harley it makes sense but the slop design is of little help in our bags.

On the description of the Reda it says, Holds an amazing one gallon. Is this different than a regular one gallon? :dontknow:

Kind of like what's the difference between regular lightning and deadly lightning? :D

:roflblack: Yes, it's amazing that they dare call it a gallon. In reality it holds about 0.9 gallons safely, with the necessary bit of head space. If this theory hold true, BTW, the Spyder holds an amazing 6.6 gallons...LOL.

Regular lighting hits a tree,
Deadly lightning hits you!:yikes::roflblack:

I have both the REDA and KOLPIN. The Reda will fit in the side saddle bag and hold a little less than a gallon. The Kolpin will only fit in the Frunk and holds a true 1.5 gallon and it is much heavier duty and has a built in handle.

We don't get lightning here….. the RETA is perfect - drop it in a side bag & forget it…………. Until you need it…still plenty of room to store other stuff.

If you use an auxiliary gas can like the REDA, don't forget to put a fuel stabilzer in the gas in the can. It sits a long time before you use it. You should empty it and get fresh gas every so often, too. If you use stale gas, you could have more problems than merely running out of fuel. BTW, two REDAs and a small bottle of Stabil fit nicely in the left saddlebag of an RT.

For those long rides on unfamiliar roads I too carry 2 of the Reda 1 gallon cans in my left saddle bag at about 33 MPG. I figure 2 gallons should get me to a gas station no matter where I am.:spyder:
