• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RANTING OF A SPYDER RIDER

I wash off the bike using a garden sprayer filled with cold water. It's one of those things that holds about a gallon or two of water and you pump it up by hand to build up pressure. I use cold water because I believe warm water might be more likely to activate the corrosive quality of salt.

I like this idea very much. I believe this is the way to go to wash the bikes. SO done and done! Now, back on point; So far 14 has shown very good traction in the wet. It even recovered from a seemingly unrecoverable slide. SO my feeling here is that our Spyders can hold up to prety foul weather conditions. It's just a matter of can we? I think everyone has their own boundries driven by many different variables.

:thumbup:Awesome writeup! I too am enjoying winter riding on the Spyder. I sing with a group at WPAFB, and the other guys apparently had a pool about when I'd finally show up to practice in a cage. Still waiting! I admit that riding in the cold on the RT-S is cheating. I crank up the windshield, slip my hands into the muffs, and windchill's not really a factor. It's funny, but I get coldest on the back of my neck (if I don't wear a balaclava). It's been in the teens and twenties the past couple of weeks, and except for windpants and the balaclava, I haven't had to make too many concessions. Now, I haven't ridden on the snowy streets yet, but mostly because I've had really limited time for pleasure riding, and my commute's a no fail affair (I teach). But, we're on winter break, so all bet's are off, now!

AMEN TO THAT, BROTHER! Riding in rain leaves quite a bit of gunk on the uderside, though. I've been hand washing the whole bike because I was a bit nervouse about taking a hose to it for fear I would hurt something.

What do you guys think about using a hose? Perhaps this should be a new thread...

road from ft lauderdale florida to salem nh 3 days in the torrential rain ...didnt hurt it at all and i don't think other than riding it under water it could have gotten wetter
