250 mi/tank ????

Okay, so either my spyder is a freak of nature or I just ride easier than most. Prior to reading this thread I had estimated I was getting around 200 or so miles per tank. After reading this thread I was rather baffled and thought I must just be wrong. Yesterday I filled it up and rode 110 to 120 miles and it is still reading more than half a tank. :dontknow: I hot dog it from time to time because I like the sound of the muffler, but I guess when I ride I get looking at the scenery or and slow down or something because I'm guessing I can get around 250 miles per tank.

Amanda, are you sure you are measuring miles/gal and not km/gal.:dontknow: I don't think it is possible to get 250 miles/tank.:lecturef_smilie:

The most gas i ever put in was 5.6 gal. 193 miles. no bars showing.
Usually i fill up at 170 / 180 miles 5/5.3 gal. I'm thinking 6 gal is all the tank will hold.:dontknow:

If I practive enough before hand, I get to go on my first ride (127 miles). That will probably give me an idea on how far I can go. My plan, once I am comfortable with my new baby (I get it Saturday!!!!!) is to use her as my daily commute. My 'cage' is 29-30 mpg, so I'm not concerned that the average seems to be 30ish mpg. It's going to be much more fun. My round trip (work and back) is 54 miles. Of course, it's going to be a bit harder to stop for groceries while I'm in town....

I have an RS-S when it was under 2000 kays (1242ish) miles i would get about 220 kays (kilometers) (136 miles) & one bar left when the light came on, when i filled up i got 18 liters (4.7) gallons back in it, which left 9 liters (2.3 gls) still in the tank, i thought then that the light came on a bit early but was told this was normal, because of the popping & back fireing (hindle exhaust) i put on the 02 modifire, then the fuel consumpsion dropped to 190 kays (118 miles) so now i have done over 2200 kays (1367miles) & i put the 02 sensor back on then the fuel went back the other way, almost 240 kays (149 miles) until one bar left & light comes on but i didnt fill up until it was on 270 kays (167 miles) then i put 20 liters in (5.2 gls), so the engine must be lossening up a bit & the green air filter is helping.

Yup, me too. Not worried though. I didn't really buy 14 for mileage purpoes! As long as I stay around 32 or so I'm happy. And I'm very happy!

The RS-S does really good on gas. Of course, that one is pretty much box stock, and with the SE5 you can be real smooth which helps even more. I will have to do a bit more precise tracking to get more accurate numbers, but 140 miles per tank is no big deal with the RS-S at all, and that's with fuel to spare.

One of these days I will have to start actually tracking my mileage to see what I am getting. My one test of 100 miles fill up, 100 miles fill up, put me at 27 mpg. I am still fine with that, as it is a toy for me and I treat it like a toy.

Heading to Lamont's BBQ, I was on 3 bars when we got off the interstate. I expected to see a gas station there, but there were none. I was following 6 other Spyders at the time. We rode a while, had to make a u-turn and ride further, and I was really starting to sweat the fuel issue. By the time we found Lamont's I had 1 bar left, and the low fuel light came on. One other ryder already had the low fuel light on and no bars, as he was pulling his trailer along. Luckily BajaRon gave me great directions to the nearest gas station. After the BBQ, we headed straight there. My Spyder took 5.092 gallons which is the most fuel I have ever put in it. I forget how much the Spyder with the trailer took, but know it was more than mine and am thinking 5.5 gallons or so.

I can tell you this much, ryding is a whole lot more enjoyable when you are not worrying about how much further you can make it before being stranded. :shocked:
