RAM X GRIP for STS instructions?

I put a ram ball into the sun shade area with an xgrip. It's usable but not as stable as I'd hoped.

seems like the Kewlmetal install is what people seem to use on a handlebar mount.

was hoping for a less expensive alternative?

I really like the kewl metal mount on the handlebars. Nice and solid.

Unfortunately $50 is a cheap farkle and only the beginning!

Two methods installing a Ram ball in the thread I linked. I have the x grip on the ram ball. Just not shown.
