There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Ram mount

Hi All,
I just bought a 2011 Rs-s and will be driving it home. I wish to mount my GoPro for the trip. I would like to mount it near the throttle hoping that gives me the best view. I am not sure what type of mount to bring with me. Does anyone have advice? Pictures would sure help.
Thanks

If you mount it on the handlebars you will get a very shaky videio as you are always making slight corrections. Best mount is on your helmet as you body acts like a shock absorber and you will film where you are looking, going into turns etc. next best is on the left side of the body about mid way and forward of the rider. There are all kinds of mounts available, glue on , suction, bolt on etc. You could bolt on a Ram mount to an existing screw or bolt on the body panel or remove (if you have an RT) one of the mid wind deflectors under the windshield and use that for a location.

Since you have an RS, :agree: with Blue Knight. But the possibilities of adding the camara mount are endless. You can go to rammount.com for ideas.

Here's my GoPro mounted on the left lower body panel. I stuck a mounting clip on the fairing and the bungees are for a safety lanyard as well as additional vibration damping. I had the remote mounted on the clutch sideof the handlebar, powered through a USB port hidden in the tank bag.

As you can see, the video was actually pretty stable,

more info ASP

Yes, the video looks good. I do not see any power cord coming from the GoPro, just how did you power it? Sure would like to know how to keep it ready all day. I will be coming from Utah and going to Rhode Island, so I would like to not run out of power.

Well with the WiFi back and remote, I could turn it off when the road was boring, thus having enough power till I could charge the unit back at the hotel in the evenings. Face it, you probably won't want to record miles and miles of prairie wheat fields in between UT and RI anyway. zzzzzzzzz. :)

A friend of mine on the same trip modded his GoPro to receive power via a USB cord and Powerlet connected to his bike. He simply drilled an access port in the GoPro weatherproof case - of course rendering it not waterproof. But I could see adding some rubber sleeve or even electrical tape to keep rain out a bit. Kind of like this-> http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qROPXSyBi...EdY/ghp-LDWlLpw/s1600/2012-07-29+13.58.01.jpg

Wheat fields

Your right about the wheat fields, but I am ready for them. I planned on using the throttle lock and taking a nap during the boring times.
Your mounting looks like a good spot, is there a special mount type from Ram. Stud mount, 10MM hole type for thru bolt? I would like to bring whatever i think I might need with me as I plan on leaving for the return trip not too long after I get the keys. Within two days max.

Nope, my mount is all GoPro. I stickied a flat adhesive mounting plate on the fairing, and the rest is a right angled extension arm and 90 degree elbow. See the GoPro grab bag of mounts: http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/grab-bag-of-mounts

If you have the suction cup arm, bring that too. The Spyder has several areas flat/smooth enough for mounting it: windshield, side panels.

I do have a RAM ball, but it's on my handlebar cover holding my phone cradle. I installed a heli-bar and the optional Powerlet/RAM ball kit - you can see it in the photo.
