Ram mount for Nextar S3, help?

I was given an Nextar model S3 GPS unit which came with a suction cup type mount. Needless to say this doesn't work on the Spyder. I've searched the internet for mounts for motorcycle handlebars, but none seem to fit the Nextar S3 unit. I'm familiar with Ram mounts but I'm a real dummy with stuff like this. Could anyone find out which Ram parts and pieces I would need to make this S3 mount on the Spyder. I get confused looking at all the various pieces. :dontknow:

Here's a list of nextar motorcycle mounts; but, I don't see an S3. Maybe you can recognize if one of the others would work.

RAM Motorcycle Mount for Nextar P3 GPS

This is the one that I think might work for my Nextar S3. It looks like the GPS unit is just clamped in by the three holders. But, it doesn't say what diameter handlebar it will fit. As we know the Spyder's handle bars are bigger, plus I have No Magic Neon's 4 inch risers on my Bike. All the more reason I'm confused as to what all I need. These ads are generally lacking in full descriptions of their products.

Most motorcycles bars are either 7/8 of an inch or 1 inch and the Spyder is 7/8th.

Don't forget there is that plastic piece (on the right hand side) over the bars that you cut and remove and then it's 7/8".

With the NMN risers, you shouldn't have to cut the plastic piece that may or may not be on the handlebars anymore. IMO the best option for mounting a RAM mount with the NMN risers is this one. Ram flat mirror stem mount. I couldn't find it in the MountGuys link that wyliec posted. :dontknow: That bolts on with the bolt on the upper bar of the NMN riser. Then you need one of the double socket arms like this one http://www.MountGuys.com/product_p/ram-b-201a.htm or this one http://www.MountGuys.com/product_p/ram-b-201.htm. There are a few other of those arms in this link http://www.mountguys.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=ball&Search.x=0&Search.y=0

If the Nextar P3 mount from MountGuys includes the double socket arm and that handlebar clamp ball shown in the picture, you probably will have everything you would need right there. If that handlebar clamp is for 7/8" bars (the size of the Spyder / NMN handlbars), you'll be all set. The other common size of handlebars is 1"

Ram mount found!

Thanks everyone who helped search for the mount. I placed my order with the "mountguys.com" tonight. It's the universal type (held with 3 fingers) and includes the U bolt with ball, which fits up to 1 & 1/4" tubes. The package includes everything I need.

Had to email mountguys for the diameter range, and asked them what all the kit included. He wrote back the info.

Can't wait to get it! :clap:

Just think....with my GPS, I can now ride into the Bermuda Triangle and actually find my way back!!!!!
