There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN

Glad we rode to Eureka Springs yesterday. Been raining all day. We went to the movies, which is a short walk from the Super 8. Tonight we walked over to the Brazilian restaurant for dinner. I know there is an event down on the river tonight but it is just pouring rain. Many Spyders have not moved all day. Tomorrow the forecast is for more rain....yuck!

Just bought a new 2013 RT Limited. Have never ridden a roadster, only conventional trike conversions and Harley Tri Glide. How does the spyder handle wet roads and heavy rains?

well, the Spyder handles fine, but its how well the driver knows how to deal with the weather conditions....

yeah... rainy and cold.... lots of ppl to hang out with at the hotel...

It handles fine, except your forward vision on the highway is limited with all the water on the windshield, and your face-shield. Follow the same rules concerning road speed when roads are wet. :yikes:

I left Springfield this morning at 5:30 AM for Michigan. It was lightly raining. It rained all the way to St. Louis, any where from a drizzle to heavy rain. The RT handled it fine. Like some have commented the ability of the Spyder to handle the rain has a lot to do with the pilot in command. Just because the Spyder can handle the rain doesn't mean the driver can. Take it easy and don't over drive the rain.

Between the second half of the trip to Springfield and the first half of the trip back home I drove over 600 miles in the rain and was dry.

I think another important part of driving in the rain is having good rain gear. I have the Frogg Toggs Road Toad Motorcycle Rain Suit and the Can Am boots, I was dry all day. The Frogg Toggs kept me dry and are not sweet chambers because they breath.

Hope you enjoyed the restaurant and got your 10% discount. We are still full, so no pie run!! Couldn't even walk fast lol!! :roflblack:

Boat house wedding and pie run

We got back to the Super 8 after ryding to the boat house wedding and then back to the Comfort Inn for the wonderful pie. What a great time meeting new people everywhere we've been! Thanks a lot to all those who helped bring it all off in spite of the conditions! And of course the Spyder handled the rain just great! Even the streams of water running down the canals (streets)!

Congrats. NICE choice

to answer your ? VERY WELL. get yourself some quality rain gear and relax and enjoy the ryde..rain and all.

The Spyder handles the rain just fine; it's the other drivers out there that I'm not so sure of. For some reason my waterproof Can-Am boots chose this year to NOT be waterproof. Cold wet feet all day yesterday. Haven't ventured out at all yet today. Can't stand being cold and wet at the same time; too acclimated to FL, I guess.

FLORIDA

i did a Florida ride in March and i can say "i know what you mean"... thinking it would be the paradise they advertise, i didn't bother to take warm weather clothing... well i left Greenville, SC at 40 degress & cloudy.... made it to Greenwood, SC and it started to rain... bought a newspaper and stuffed one section in each pant leg, the rest over my chest... should'a returned home - but i pressed on... rained until we hit the coast, where we put up for the night... next morninig - RAIN... then more RAIN... made it south of JAX... morning 3 - RAIN... made our way to Stuart IN THE RAIN... morning 4... the other guys headed south to KEY WEST and since i couldn't stop shaking, i decided to head north to home... Stuart to Jessup, GA - RAIN... Jessup, GA to HOME - RAIN and temps in the high 30's low 40's all the way... and when i say RAIN, i'm NOT talking a drizzle, i'm talking 'by the buckets'...

hope my ride to UTAH the 2nd week of May is somewhat better...

hope all you guys enjoy the gathering...

RE: Handling on wet roads. The :spyder2: is real good at hydroplaning if you go through standing water at speeds higher than 50 mph. I have had that happen to me twice. The nanny saved my bacon both times. Recommend caution if you run into that situation.

 Excellent info for those who have little rain time on the spyder, and a good reminder to those who do.

A thought. Information like this is so important and may save someone's bacon. You should post it as a stand alone touring tip. jmy2c

couldn't take it anymore. Next year!

We are home in Tenn now... Riding in a little rain is one thing but after days of chilly rain when its supposed to be Spring this got really old so we finally gave up. Worst part is it followed us home.... :gaah:
