• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radio Frequency Noise form Headlights

2009 GS/RS SE5. I just installed a J&M CB radio, that also attaches to 3.5 input to listen to tunes, books, etc. The line in is in a dash pouch that sits under the windscreen. My wife states she can't hear the radio, or music due to incredible RF noise. When she pulls along side me, I hear the same noise on my bike, through my system. I did install the J&M Static filter, so I was surprised she gets this noise. Aren't the OEM headlights HIDs? Does anyone else have heavy static noise in the phone or MP3 player when set up on the dash?
I was planning on replacing the headlights with some LED's, but I heard their transformers will cause RF noise also.
Whats a guy to do? Try incandescent H7s?

J&M CB Radio

I am not familiar with the radio, but I would recommend the following:
  • Check to ensure all connections to the radio are tight.
  • Use a shielded cable between the external ipod type device to the CB unit
  • make sure the headlight connectors are fully seated and clean the connection if necessary.
  • lastly, you may need to add toroid beads or cores to the ends of some of the cabling to help reduce RFI into the CB

Regards

Michael

The OEM headlights are not HIDs. They are regular halogen bulbs. If it does have HIDs. Could a previous owner installed a inferior quality set?
