• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radio & AUX Volume too low using J & M Helmet Headset

I purchased a 2014 RT Limited a couple weeks ago. I figured out how to program the AM/FM Radio & my MP3 Player to only play through my J & M Helmet headset. The problem is I can barley hear the music. At one point I couldn't get the volume to increase past 50%. I now have all of the volume settings maxed out, but I can still barley hear the music from the Radio or the MP3 player. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The User Manual has very limited information regarding the sound system and how to specifically define the various settings.

Any recommendations and suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Wired or Wireless

Is this a wired headset that you plug in or is it wireless and bluetoothed to the spyder?

If wired, I may be able to help you get some volume -- there are a few settings to check (from memory, not sitting with the spyder in front of me):

Settings -- Audio -- then look for two intercom settings -- both balance the sound front to back.
  • One has settings like F1 to F6 and R1 to R6 (for max to the front, set at F6)
  • The other has settings that are in percentages with 0% in the middle and graduated settings to 50% front or 50% rear (again, for max to the front set at 50% front).

Settings -- Audio -- some others to check:
  • External speakers -- off
  • Auto volume -- high (this will adjust your volume up / down as your speed increases and decreases)

That is about all I can think of at the moment .... hope it helps .... Ann

Thanks so much for responding Ann! It is a wired headset that I plug in (7-pin cord). I remember seeing a screen that displayed "50%". I am still in process of reading the entire Owner's Manual.

I will give your info a try tonight when I get home from work and let you know how things go.

Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your help Ann!

I checked all of the settings and the only one I had to change was the “F” setting. It was set to “F3” and I moved it up to “F7”. Now here’s the weird part. I made this change Wednesday night and when I tested it the volume it was still too low to hear with the engine running.

On Thursday night my husband plugged in his helmet and told me the volume was plenty loud with the engine running. He did not make any changes to any settings. My first thought was it must be time for me to get a new headset. When I got home Thursday night I plugged my helmet in and the volume was fine with the engine running. I am a bit of a computer nerd and am wondering if you must “re-boot” the Spyder’s computer when you make any changes certain settings? Just curious.

Thanks again for your help. I greatly appreciated it! :2thumbs:

Sometimes, the audio output of the MP3 players stop at a maximum of 50% or so in order to prevent hearing loss.
A quick setting on teh MP3 player will allow the volume to go to maximum.

Just a thought. As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.
